They have that in Canada as well so am confused by the poster's question.
I will say that the affordable care act in the US also requires everyone to buy insurance. They offer insurance exchanges in each state that are supposed to be reasonably priced. If you make over a certain amount (the amount that is the cut off of aid for Medicaid (for those in our country who have very low wages or no wages/welfare basically)--- you are expected to use the exchanges to buy insurance for yourself if your employer doesn't offer it.
With this in place, no one is supposed to pay out of pocket.
In Idaho to have an ob if you don't have insurance from start to finish is 12,000 dollars and that's not counting hospital stay.
Thank god for the national health service in England don't think I'd be able to afford to have a baby if I lived in America! Good luck x
So lucky everything's free in the UK
I'm going to loose my insurance next month I am 6 weeks and I'm going crazyyyy
Here is a link to Canadian Health care.

Canada has universal healthcare, right? Why are you looking into insurance? All citizens of Canada have healthcare. Are you a minor and then don't qualify or something? then you'd be with your parents for coverage?? But I am pretty sure if you are a Canadian citizen, healthcare is something that is automatically provided to you.
Same here ! 25 weeks and still no insurance ):
What about when baby comes though? Here in minnesota pediatrician visits are $500 a piece. My bill first time around after giving birth was over 5k. I had to stay because of my blood pressure. I'm not sure how medical prices are in Canada but, just beware!!
Thank god I have midwife care and I don't need to pay for the visit ❤️ I just found out the cost for hospital was 1086$ and c-section 1160$ (per day). I was expecting a higher price
To be honest I have my OBGYN $300 every vist and the hospital bill depends on how long they have to keep you
