PLEASE READ very concerned

I had a dream that we were having a boy (were having a girl) and he was premature like earlier than 30 weeks... And after this dream it got me thinking. After how many weeks can a baby survive outside the womb? And if a baby is that premature do you still have awful contractions? Like does it hurt when the baby is born or no because the baby is so tiny?

I think the youngest is 23 weeks. I had my son at 34 weeks. He weighed 5 pounds and 2 ounces. He is now healthy and perfect!

I had my son at 25 wks. He weighed 1 lb and 10oz. I went into premature labor due to placental abrubtion. It hurt sooooo bad, I had the worst back labor. I also had a ton of bleeding. I had to have an emergency c section cuz they could not stop the contractions and having him vaginally would have crushed him. My body was already pushing on its own and they had to get him out fast!he was in the hospital for 3 months. He had a brain bleed, hernias, and his retinas in his eyes were not attached. He is now a perfectly healthy normal 12 yr old! I call him my miracle baby Lol. We r very lucky that he is healthy. If he would have been born a week earlier no telling if they even would have tried to keep him alive. I believe it's before 24 wks that the drs do not try to keep the baby alive because they do not really have a chance at survival. When my son was born was the scariest day of my life! I'm now 34 wks pregnant and I will go thru all these "pregnancy problems" a million times then to have my baby be in the nicu for any amount of time.

I've been told that 24 weeks is a viable gestational age. I have had 2 premature babies.Labor and delivery was actually more painful with my 3 pound daughter than my 7 pound son because of all of the complications that I was having.
