Pain Management

After reading about pain management during labor I have decided to not have any medication unless it is absolutely necessary. However, I am still back and forth about an epidural. What is everyone's opinions or experiences with it? Trying to weigh the pros and cons.

Ive done all three natural no pain meds or gas. I felt it was better for me to be able to move around when I needed to rather than being stuck to the bed paralyzed and detached from what was happening around me, and yes it is absolutely very empowering to do it natural and I think the recovery time is alot quicker. I was up within the first 30 minutes having a shower and was home after our mandatory 4 hour wait with the first 2 and then only 3 hours wait the 3rd time. Im hoping to do it natural again the 4th time so fingers crossed. Good luck in your decision.

I've done 1 with an epidural and 1 withouy. This 1 will be without!  It was very enpowering like geekmom1213 said. The fear was crazy, but now that i know i survived it once, lol, i will do it without again. Honestly, looking back, without was better for me. With was stressful, i couldn't push, made me feel weak. However, any pain medication can reach the baby, so i would all natural or epidural, nothing iv. Tough decision,  just know plans change, you'll know whats best for you in the moment. Good luck!

I had a med-free delivery with my first. I knew my body was built to do it, I knew my mama had done it three times and I was certainly just as strong as she was. I had a supportive midwife and a supportive husband and it was really hard work but it was the most incredible and empowering thing I've ever done. Can't wait to do it again. You just have to banish the fear and believe in yourself. It's amazing.

With my first, I wanted to see what all that pain people told me about would be like. So I waited. I lasted about 3 hours and got the epi. Lol.  My 2nd, I asked for it as soon as the offered. I'm a wimp. Women who do it natural are truely amazing.

I had all three of mine naturally but I'm 30 wks with number 4 and i just dont know if i can do it again!  Lol! So i am in the same situation kind of. One thing i found is i get a nicer room as the hospital for all natural because they want you to have lots of room for walking and i got the only room with a giant bath tub!  So there is that. Good luck!
