Breastfeeding is not a reliable enough form of birth control because you never know when ur ovulation will start again... for me it was after a year and a half. I also nursed my son alot... He really loved nursing and I weaned him slowly incorporating new foods. Personally I cannot use hormonal birth control and I use condoms. Never had a problem with it. Hormonal birth control can be dangerous for some women like myself. I would definitely avoid the Depo shot, it's really bad for you.
It's a lie when they tell you breastfeeding is a form of birth control. I exclusively breastfed my first and I got pregnant when she was 3 months old. Also if you plan to use a birth control make sure you use it the right way. When you take birth control you shouldn't have unprotected sex for the first 3 weeks. I hear so many stories about women getting pregnant on birth control. Ok yes birth control is 99.9% accurate meaning there is that .1% that birth control won't work on a person but here you have over 50% of women stating they got pregnant on birth control. My friend was one of them. Every time she was asked how she got pregnant she claimed she was on the patch and it fell off, or she wasn't on birth control, or she was on the pill.
I love depo and going back on that right after.
Strictly breast feeding is not a form of birth control. Whoever is telling people this are not smart. You are MOST fertile after giving birth. Known fact!
Im wondering what I'm going to do for birth control too. Ive had so many issues with all the different types. Ive never had an IUD though. My sis had mirena and then had 2 miscarriages after getting it removed. My other friend had Mirena and hated it and she said it would pop condoms. I don't know if I feel comfortable with a thing in my uteris. There is a copper one that has no hormones.
According to planned parenthood specifically breastfeeding is considered a form of birth control. But I'm starting an intense program this November and can NOT afford to get pregnant till after I graduate. I'm thinking implanon or depo, although they have both made me gain weight it's worth it not to get pregnant after Aspen is here :) she was planned we can't afford an oops lol
You are most fertile in the first 6 months after having a baby and breastfeeding doesn't make a difference and I don't know of a doctor who would call it birth control. If you don't want to get pregnant again you need to have proper birth control some people don't get pregnant while breastfeeding but for some people it takes months to get pregnant.
Breastfeeding is not birthcontrol. My mother got pregnant with my sister when I was 6 weeks old and she exclusively breastfed. I have a friend who exclusively breastfeed and when her baby was 5 months old ended up pregnant with twins.
My mom had this one they implant I'm your arm. It works and you can breast feed as well.
I've taken classes and spoke to my MD. I plan on strictly breast feeding. It is not a reliable form of birth control. They specifically say you probably won't get your period but you still can ovulate and pregnant.
Breastfeeding is a form of birth control of you strictly breastfeed. It actually works for the first 6 months as long as the mother ONLY breastfeed which means NO FORMULA! it actually works. There are many classes you can take to learn about this topic. I personally always use a back up such as depo due to the fact i breastfeed and use formula.
Breastfeeding is not a form of burthcontrol. Just because you haven't gotten a post partum period doesn't mean you're not fertile! I was on Micronor while breastfeeding, it worked for me.
Depo its good that's what I used after my first and before the only thing you have to keep up with your appointments always on time..
You can also use the Depo shot while breastfeeding.
I have 3 friends who recently got pregnant on the implanton
Get the copper iud its non hormonal and works
There's only a few birth controls recommended while breastfeeding they are the IUD, mini pill, and the implanton. Anything else may mess with your milk supply.
I don't know if you can use to while breastfeeding, but I am on y he patch and love it. I have had horrible experiences with all the other forms of birth control I've used except this one
