Rice cereal

My baby is now 7 weeks old and doing great. He is the love of our lives. But as of lately, when he sleeps at night he wakes up about every 2 hours to eat because soothing him and pacifier do not work so we assume he's hungry, but he will only take at most 2 ounces. He is taking 4 or 5 ounces throughout the day but at night just 2 and falls back into a deep sleep that tickling and changing diaper and getting him almost naked doesn't wake him up to finish. So husband and I are really contemplating adding rice cereal to his last bottle before we go to bed. Just enough to get him to maybe drop 1 night feeding and be fully hungry at the next. What are some of your thoughts. I know they say 3 months or older but this whole waking up just to feed 1.5 ounces every 2 hours is super annoying. And we're wasting a lot of formula.

I would ask the pediatrician. When my son was born he has such bad reflux that we were adding cereal to his bottles at 6 weeks. Just see what they say.

Is to early for solids. At 7 weeks, baby should only have breast milk or formula. And it is still normal for babies to nurse round the clock.

I wouldn't think about it until more like 16 to 24 weeks.  My pediatrician told me no solids until 6 months. But I know people who start at 4 months.

I know this lady who did it, she said she adds enough to make the milk thick but not thick to the point where it sticks to the bottle sides and she claims to be doing it since her 1st kid. She's like 36 and has 4 kids

Nooo don't do it . That can seriously harm your babies gut for life. Newborns are supposed to nurse or have milk every two hours because their stomachs are so tiny. You need to nurse him on demand. You can start cutting out milk feedings when your baby is supposed to start new foods at 6 months old. I had to wake my son up every two hours during the night to keep him nursing. Babies have to

That is really not a good idea. His digestive system cannot handle anything other than milk right now. If you try any way, you are risking extremely painful but pains as his body tries to handle the foreign food.  Try talking to his pediatrician for advice on what to do.
