With my first 2i didn't use it and I never dilated or softened and for both was induced. My third I used it and by 39 weeks was softened and dilated to a 1 and went into delivery 1 or 2 days early on my own. This one I started using PRO at 34 weeks (inserting 1 at night). Went in and was checked at 36 weeks, I'm still thick but dilated to a 1. That's A not deal for me because for me usually nothing happens until the very end. Now that I'm 36 weeks I insert 3 at night. I think it helps get your cervix ready but not put you into labor. Everyone is different though.

if u started to dilate u should try walking up and down sets of steps i came into the hospital for contractions and was 80% thinned 1cm dilated so they had me walk to see if it would help so i didnt have to be sent home i got there around 11 started walking at 12 around the halls and up and down the steps and by 12:45 i was 4cm so they put me in a room gave me an i.v and after i had my next contraction they checked me again i was 7cm and was ready to get the epidural until the nurse said she wanted to check me one more time before i got it so after my contraction she checked and i was up to 8 1/2cm so i said nvm on the shot but my water was still only leaking they had the dr come in he finished breaking it and i went to 10cm and started pushing and had her at 3:02am so the steps helped a lot
good luck to you

Castor oil only works if your cervix is ripe and your body is close to going into labor. I did it at 38 weeks and 2 days. It did give me diarrhea. You have to drink lots of water afterward to stay hydrated. It took about 12 hours to work for me. The whole concept is the xator oil causes the diarrhea and creates sympothy contractions which cause real contractions in your uterus but your cervix and body both have to be ready and if you don't stay hydrated then it could end up really bad for you and baby.

I used evening primrose oil the 37th week of my pregnancy per midwife recommendation. I swallowed two tablets and inserted 2 vaginally every day. I believe it was supposed to soften the cervix. I had my daughter 2-3 days after I started using it.
