Smoke..

Okay so im a ftm.. Im 8 weeks along.. and my boyfriend is a heavy smoker. (cigarettes and pot) i really hate that he smokes and ive tried asking him to slow it down because i dont wanna risk the babys health. Im really hoping he stops  before  the baby gets here but he hasnt showed any signs of stopping. He thinks everything will be fine because im not the one smoking. Ive tried explaining to him that second hand smoke can be just as harmful but he doesnt wanna believe me. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it in his head that its important that he stops? Has anyone been thru a similar situation? How bad is second hand pot smoke?

I would try to just stay away, but being a smoker myself. I didn't smoke during my pregnancy but I am now after again... But it's not that he's being selfish by not cutting back, it is a very hard task and a lot of people just don't know how to handle it and cut back. The pot thing, it isn't very harmful but it is still smoke so there are effects. But just try to stay away and tell him to stop smoking by you, in a car with you or in a house. Outside is a perfect environment for him to smoke!

Well first of you shouldn't be around him when he smokes and I hope you aren't because second hand smoke is just as bad or worse and he should know that as well. So if he cares for his unborn child he should care ! Otherwise I feel u should stay away for your babies health, u do t wanna risk anything. GOOD Luck And God bless

Thank you everyone! i definatly will bring it up at my next apt. I dont wanna pressure him cuz ik its not easy for him to quit i just hope his priorities will straighten out and hopefully the further along we get the more real it will be for him.

Id bring it up at your next appointment to your ob while your bf is their and let him listen

I'm NOT judging by all means and no I haven't been in that situation but it would be healthier for your baby if your not around it period. To me it sounds like he's being selfish and just thinking of himself instead of you and the baby.It's better to be safe than sorry. Good luck to you hun. :)

I just try not to be around my bf when he smokes cigs, marijuana smoke though isn't harmful , with my first he would always smoke pot in front of me and my baby turned out perfectly healthy.

There was a video on youtube on the affects of cig smoke to your baby. My bf seen it and how the baby was trying to escape it in the stomach! Now he wont smoke in the car or let me go anywhere that has smoke. But he never smoked in the house in the beginning. He slowed down on his own...i tried not to nag him about it bc i didnt want him to smoke bc i was doing that. Good luck and make sure u take him on a ultrasound so he can see how real the baby is
