The risk of SIDS go up quite a bit when a mother smoke during pregnancy. As well as undeveloped lungs at birth and over fussy babies due to nicotine addiction. Then there is low birth weight & pre term labor. Not one good thing comes from smoking while pregnant, for you and especially not you sweet baby. Do what you can to stop. For your child if not for yourself.

I smoke before I was pregnant as well as during, and honestly I have a hard time quitting... They say not to quit cold turkey because you being stressed out of not having a cig, can cause your little one to stress as well. But if you can keep it up I'd do so. Hopefully this helps :) Good luck!!!

I just finished my pack and then just kept it in my head that I wasn't smoking any more. Also my husband didn't smoke and it was something I never did around him so that made it a little easier. My sister and her hubby smoke and with me expecting they also didn't smoke around me which helped.

I used to smoke and when I found out I was pregnant it took me about 2 weeks to be able to drop the habit. It was hard cause everyone I know smoked. I've been smoke free for almost 4 years now.

I quit for half the time of my first pregnancy and starred back up at 6 months which I shouldn't have but I couldn't  help it since my sisters smoked around me and they were also pregnant. My daughter is now 3 and was perfect birth weight and only thing is she got sick easily. I now am 35 1/2 weeks pregnant with my second little girl and I quit when I found out and haven't picked up a cigarette since then. Sure it's really hard because everyone still smokes around me but I just think it's the most disgusting smell ever and can't believe I ever picked up the habit lol!

Im a smoker but have quit now with both of my pregnancies... i know its hard but you can do it! I know first hand how it feels to quit and if you can't do that at least cut back and really try to quit, the 3 people I knew who smoked had premie babys (although they were healthy) they had a very low birth weight and the cause was smoking. I dont want to be negative but smoking is whats best for not only you but your child as well! Keep going mama, you got this!

Someone asked this q. Last night and people were very ugly and judgmental about it. I smoked cigs throughout my first and smoke now.(29wks) i smoked pot both pregnancies as well mainly for sickness and cause I've been very underweight so i try to eat as much as possible. I quit smoking pot cause I've gotten past  the sickness. The most important thing i believe is to eat as much as possible unless you are overweight.  My mom smoked cigs through 4 of 5 pregnancies and my oldest sister smoked cigs with her daughter. Everyone i know cut down but didn't quit completely. Its a hard habit to break. If you've gone with out them/ it for a while I'm confident you can make it through the rest of your pregnancy with out it. Good luck hope everything goes well.
