Stress

Hi everyone. I just found out im pregnant last week that i am about 4 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy and i had a very stressful night and i am wondering if someone could tell me if that could affect my baby. I tried hard to breathe through it and to de stress as quickly as possible though. Also any suggestions other pregnant moms have to de-stress would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

Try a warm bubble bath and a few yoga sessions if there's anything near by. This can help you deal with the stress when the anxious thoughts start creeping in. I'm not 100% on the science of why stress is bad for your baby but I've heard it said a lot. So probably best to find a few ways of coping when you start feeling a stress episode coming on. Hope you feel better and have a healthy pregnancy x

Think about things that make you happy and do things that make you happy. You have plenty of time and will get used to the idea of being pregnant. I remember being sick from the idea of being pregnant first time around but like most other people I feel like having my daughter was the best thing that happened to me. I hope it gets easier for you - you don't know the beautiful experience that lies ahead!

Thank you both for your encouragement and recommendations. It is my first and it was not planned. We are happy and excited but it definitely has thrown life into a bit of a whirlwind.

Keep in mind especially during your first trimester you are dealing with a giant amount of new/extra hormones which can make every emotion 3x as happy/sad/stresses. It gets better I promise!

Being pregnant is a big thing especially if it's not planned and can be stressful. I would try warm (not hot) relaxing bath/shower and some light yoga. And if that doesn't help talking about it to a friend/family member can help.
Make sure to let your dr know at your first visit of it hasn't gotten better.

With my first I was a little stressed out for the first months and she's now a perfectly healthy toddler.
