Teen Moms, Homeschooling Concerns

Is there any teen mom here that is finishing school, homeschooled/online classes and is doing good? I've never been in homeschooled, I'm an honor roll student and I'm scared my grades will go down or they'll put me down a grade. I'm in 11th I'm still going to school now and 12 grade year I'm starting homeschooling cause classes start August and I'm due in October, I will have to stay with the baby at home while my mom works. But for college my mom is staying home while I go to school.

I'm due April 26th & I'm in 11th grade. But my high school has a parenting program that offers free daycare for teen moms while they're in school (high school classes) and once I have my baby I'll be going on home bound. Girls from other schools transfer there for the program so they can stay in school and graduate. I'm gonna miss all my exams though so the social worker who works & helps run the day care is trying to work that out with the state and my guidance counselor cause the tests I need to take to graduate are right around my due date :/

Thanks mom and RockRose, no I haven't taken the ACT/SAT, I'm only in 11th grade. I'm actually looking forward to homeschooling now I was scared at first and I think I'll do okay with the social life cause anyways in school I focus more on my classes than friends

Online takes more time than regular school and getting use to the antisocial part of it will probably be the hardest.   Having a baby and high school will be difficult just like it is in college.  Be prepared for no social life for awhile

I was a teen mother, im not anymore, but where i live in central California they have speacial schools for moms with daycare on site where you can breastfeed and see the baby anytime of the school day, they are accredited high schools with diplomas and a graduating class. Plus they offer classes like prenatal yoga, mother and baby bonding, and tap programs id see if you can find a school like that, i had to go on bed rest with my son and during that time i homeschooled and i loved it , it is alot of work and time you cant slack off or you will see a decline in your grades, but you seem smart and motivated so im sure you will do fine, good luck and congratulations!

I homeschooled myself through homeschool and graduated with a 4.0. It was the best thing I ever did. And I'm doing.my college all online too since I did so well and it just suits me much more than a classroom settimg.

Marionne,  you need to talk to your counselor about this if you're planning to apply to a 4 year college during your senior year in high school.    This is kind of too big a question to answer on a discussion forum on the internet.

Have you taken the SAT and/or ACT already,  and done well enough to get into the college of your choice?

You may actually want to call an advisor at your college(s) you are interested in attending,  and ask them what to do.

Hello. I'm in the 11 and Classes start in August also and I'm due in sept. I am thinking about finishing out the credits I need at home online. I know that it will be easier with me wanting to breastfeed.

Where i live there are programs called 1621  ( i live in tx) where you go to school for 2 hours and do the classes online and you go at your pace and you get a diploma, not a GED. I would say speak to your school counselor and talk about different options.

I did online school to finish high school and im also doing onkine classes for college. I actually like it better than regular school, it gives me more flexibility throughout the day. I think you will do great. I got my high school diploma now i am working on my associates degree.

I don't do homeschooling but I help my younger brother who does. Its an excellent opportunity to learn at your own pace and convenience. The thing is tho if you slack it will show. Other than that you can finish faster and better than your peers if you put effort into it. Research more about it as well usually there are homeschooling communities that you can reach that can give you tips. Good luck!
