This is NOT normal!!

Okay Ladies. I am 21, a first time mother! I am 9 almost 10 weeks pregnant! I was diagnosed with a UTI about 7 weeks pregnant, at the time I didn't know I had one because I was not experiencing any of the symptoms, although cloudy pee did seem abnormal that's why I went to the ER! I was given Macrobid (antibiotic treated for UTI's) & was told that it would clear up within a week if I took the antibiotics as directed... Which I did! However, this past week I have been in so much pain, back & abdominal pain, fever, increased urge to pee (& at times not even peeing at all), a burning sensation even when NOT trying to pee, & I have thrown up a lot & feel majorly dehydrated! It has gotten so bad that I can barely sleep at night. Today I have been having kind of a bloody tint in my urine & I know FOR SURE that is not normal at all. I don't fear it being anything concerning the baby I just figure that my UTI has turned into a kidney infection, possibly??! I plan to go to the ER tonight to see if there is anything else they can do.. This isn't really a question, I would just like to know if anyone has ever experienced this or could give some useful feedback!!!

I had a uti n I took azo pills n drank a bunch of cranberry juice n mine cleared up cuz all da medicine they gave me made me sick

I was awso peeing alot n had some side pains doc did a urine test n sed I had an infection he put me on antibiotics n sed I should feel better but he wwso sed if the pain persists to the back or it worsens I should come back immediately .you need to go to the er  immediately coz it cud awso be the antibiotics ur taking is not agreeing to ur body. Thanks so much guys!!!! I went to the ER & the uti has gotten worse. However, they prescribed me with another antibiotic (Keflex) 500MG. That I take twice daily for a week!!! Hopefully this will rid me of the UTI. (Let's all pray) ;) also, I hope no yeast infection comes from all these antibiotics!! Thanks again Ladies for your feedback! I appreciate it. <3

Its deff a uti go to the doc and get a prescription and drink lots of water and cranberry

Also make sure to drink sugar free cranberry juice and eat lots of yogurt. The cranberry helps with the Uti and the yogurt helps promote healthy intestinal flora and vaginal flora (so you hopefully don't get diarrhea and a yeast infection on top of the Uti)

I've had the increased urge to pee but sometimes not, burning sensation, first it felt like it was in my clitoris then more so in my urethra, and a bit of a bloody tint but not the other symptoms. I thought it was a UTI but my OB said it was a yeast infection and prescribed me a cream that cleared it up in 3 days. But with all ur other symptoms you should definitely get to the er asap

As a nurse I have tons of experience With UTIs.  You definitely either have another one or the first didn't clear. The problem with UTIs is that each is susceptible to different types of antibiotics depending on the type of bacteria that caused it. They need to mot only test the urine but culture it as well. While the urine analysis comes back quickly, the culture takes about 48 hours to come back. So if they prescribe you an antibiotic without seeing the culture it might not be effective against that bacteria. Many times they will prescribe something just to get you started then change it if necessary. But it's better to wait for the culture, because otherwise it's not effective.

I too have a UTI today makes day 1 of 5 weeks pregnant. My doctor at first prescribed me ampicillin and later called me to discontinue and take microbid. Reading everything about taking antibotics while pregnant is giving me a scare. However, drinking a lot of 100% cranberry juice and water to flush out your kidneys should help with the pain and burning drink til it looks and feels like you are urinating water. It helped me.
