Using padsicles postpartum? does it work?

Hello,

I heard of freezing feminine pads and using them after giving birth to help with heal inflammation, tearing, down there.

I want to try it out (I am a first time mom) but I have so many questions in my head : aren't they going to leak when they start unfreezing and you wet your behind? Doesn't the cold hurt even more? Is it medically proven to be safe?

I am curious to know how it worked out for you. And also which "recipe" you used. There are so many recipes online.

Thanks

The stuff I've read about those is putting witch hazel, aloe Vera, and lavender essential oil... You freeze them then take them out and thaw them for two minutes before use.  I'm about to be ftm also and curious about these.  Going to see how labor goes and make them if I need them when I get home.

lol..I had to have an ice pack immediately after I delivered my son because I had to push for 2 hours. The nurse left it in for too long and it gave me frost bite. I had an epidural so I didn't know what was going on down there... so my tissues and my "C" we're numb and turned white! I was so scared! Everything luckily went back to normal after a few days but it was scarring for me..

I got the night time big pads and some witch hazel and poured some all over them and froze them. I didn't have to use them cause I wasn't sore after birth. But I heard good thing about this recipe

I haven't used them myself but I didn't have much swelling after the second day. The motrin they gave me at the hospital brought it down really quick. I just used some witch hazel mixed with warm water in a Peri bottle after every bathroom trip. About 1oz witch hazel to 7oz water.

I would check it out on Pinterest. There is one I saw a whole ago in the beginning of my pregnancy, that used a large pad and some cooling type cream. Pinterest has awesome ideas and information. I will be interested to see if anyone here has used anything like this as well.
