When can you start?

How early can you start pumping? Can you start before you give birth and then freeze it?

Milk won't even come in until a few days after birth :). You'll have PLENTY of time to pump and freeze. No need to try and get a head start, especially when there's nothing there to pump :)

I don't think you should pump and store before birth. For the first few days when you first start, it is colostrum, not milk. The colostrum is packed with nutrients needed for when the baby is first born, and easier for them to digest while their bodies adjust to feeding. So if you plan to breastfeed, the nurses in the hospital will have you do it there and learn how. If you have been pumping already, you will likely be producing milk and it might be hard on the baby's digestive tract.
