Whooping cough vaccine

My next visit is in a few weeks and my ob told me what to be prepared for. It'll be my glucose test and he also mentioned that they want to give me the Pertussis vacation. I'm not comfortable with taking any vaccines and don't care for this one either. Have any of you mother's taken it and has it affected you or baby in any way?

If your not comfortable then don't take it. I waites till after my daughter was born to take. I took it the same time she got it at 2 months old.

I agree with the above poster, the only vaccine to suggest causing autism etc is the mmr and that's not actually proven (not to say it's not the cause), it's just that children who have autism have had that jab but they cannot tell for certain that it's the case, but I have had the mmr and so have the majority of people I've met in the UK (including my daughter) and I don't know anyone with autism.
I've have to whooping cough jab and I will again the next time I'm pregnant, it is a disease that can be fatal in babies and its on the rise in the uk ans america, and there isn't any risk that I would take to risk my babies health.

I would definitely recommend getting whooping cough vaccine as this causes so many deaths in infants. The only vaccine people to believe cause austim/aspergers syndrome is mmr vaccine in children.  I personally have a family member who didn't have any signs of aspergers until she got the mmr vaccine and my husbands family highly believe that this was the cause of this. Bearing that in mind my child will have mmr vaccine all together as I believe it won't make a difference to me child even if it is proven to cause austism/aspegers. Where on the other hand my husband would rather pay to have these all done separately as he works with people with autism and he sees first hand how bad it can be and as with the fact of one of our family members aspergers.

Umm...I know I might get backlash for even mentioning this, but the Pertussis Vaccine is a Class C drug.  Meaning it has been proven to cause birth defects in animals, but has not been studied enough in humans to know the side effects on unborn fetuses in humans.  Really?  And yet it's recommended to get it while pregnant?  I'm not willing to risk that until more research has been done.  Also, the whooping cough vaccine doesn't always protect against the disease.  You can be vaccinated and still get it.  There was a breakout of whooping cough a few weeks ago at a school near where we live.  And guess what?  All of the kids who got it were up to date on their Pertussis vaccinations.

I'm ok with MOST vaccines (some are just overkill), but I'd rather wait until my child's immune system can handle the vaccines on its own than pump chemicals with unknown side effects into my pregnant body.

Yes. The children were born normal. As in can talk, eat on their own, walk... Etc after 2 years of age going in for vaccine and symptoms showing after a few months that their children were becoming sick. They put so much garbage in these vaccines these days and if you were to do a lil research and see all the shots that were recommended back around 2000 from birth to 5 years old there were about 7 or so. Now days there are literally over 40 shots a child "needs"  from birth to 5 years of age...  It's just ridiculous.

Did your friends have their children tested and it has been proven in every single case that the vaccines and only the vaccines caused the mental delays?

Whooping cough is very serious and can kill an infant. My friends nephew got it and his lung colapdsed his mom didn't get the vaccine to prevent it. And it's not for you its for your baby. And they really don't know what causes autism they blame a whole bunch of things but still don't know. My sister has the worst form of autism I highly doubt it had anything to do with shots. And most schools won't let your kids go unless they've had their shots .. up to you though

Thanks ladies. I just have quite a few close friends with children who now are autistic or have special needs because of vaccines and I don't wanna take a chance with something we would all consider harmless. I've done tons of research I just didn't really see the need since I know many ppl who don't get it while pregnant and they all get alone just fine.

I got it a week ago and didnt have any negative reactions whatsoever. No reactions at all and I feel better knowing Ive done what I could to help keep my girl safe. No reason not to do it. It is recommended by every major health organization. Just look up the number of cases of it and deaths there are each year from it.

Talking vaccinations is always a touchy subject. So I will just say I got the vaccination about a month ago and the only side affect I suffered was my arm was sore.

I actually just got the vaccine today. I'm strongly with vaccines. Just cause your baby can't get the vaccine till he or she is 2 months. So when you get it, the vaccination has enough time to travel to the baby. Therefore, your baby has a little of the vaccination at birth. The whooping cough is very deadly in newborns. I would strongly recommend you getting the vaccination.
