I have been pretty lucky!!!  I am already a thicker girl and the doctor told me that I can only gain 10-15lbs.  I am 22 weeks and still -2lbs from start weight!!  It's been hard, I am 38 and a retail mgr with inconsistent hours!!  But I try to be very cautious with what I do, but I didn't go extreme either!!!  So with that I wouldn't listen to the app but what the doctor says.

I gained 40 lbs with my pregnancy. I wound up having a small baby (6lb 8oz). As long as you're eating healthy don't worry about your weight. It will come off after you have your baby! I know it's easier said that done. I quit weighing myself at home and quit looking at the scale when I went to the doctor. I just made sure I ate healthy and got some exercise.

This app has always said I've had excessive weight gain. I'm 30 weeks and have only gained 20 lbs. My Dr isn't worried and its normal to have gained this much at this time so I just ingnore this app on that part.

Thank you! The doctors don't seem to be worried at the moment but this app and a few others say that I have 'excessive weight gain' which is worrying! Can't really get much exercise in as I'm suffering quite badly with spd which is a nightmare! I have tried cutting out everything that makes me feel bloated, and i eat alot of fruit and vegetables so i am trying!  Thank you again ladies!

You do not eliminate carbs w gestational diabetes, you limit them and eat better carbs. You're given a certain amt of carbs for each snack & meal. Fyi

It depends on how your are feeling. My doctor will advise me to eat whatever I can keep down if I'm nauseous. Even if that is french fries of bread, then so be it.

If you're feeling great and you can eat anything, the way to control weight gain is to stay within your allotted calorie count or cut the carbs. Friends of mine that had to eliminate carbs due to gestational diabetes barely put on weight. So there is proof it works. You can incorporate some exercise to your daily routine too like walking or yoga.

But you do gain a lot in the second trimester and not all of it is fat. Your blood volume increases, your breast get bigger, your baby gets bigger, more amniotic fluid. If your doctor is not worried, you don't really need to be either.

I'm not very far along yet, so I can't give a comparison, but my focus has been just to eat as much healthy, nutrient dense food as possible while eating less sugar and simple carbs. I'm mainly doing it to control blood sugar. If you're eating things that are good for you and baby and don't have gestational diabetes, you probably shouldn't worry unless your doctor says otherwise. If you were underweight before getting pregnant, more gain is normal.  You don't want to deprive the baby either, so the only change I would recommend is a focus on healthy choices rather than calorie restriction.

According to this app I have been excessively overweight since my 12th week and I am currently in my 35th week and I have gained a total of 23 lbs. With that being said my doctor isn't concerned and said I was within my range. I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck:)

Ya...I gained the same amount around 29 weeks..now I'm 39 and I've gained about 50 pnds total. So don't stress you'll be fine. Worry about it after baby is here
