baby Thomas is here!

I had my 8pound beautiful baby boy at 8.11pm (uk time) I do not remember it been that painful! My waters broke at 10.30am, got to labour&delivery at 11.30. After another hour of contractions I had a examination they discovered then that I still had my front waters intact, I was oy 1cm dilated and baby had done a poo inside! The midwife gave me some codine for pain relief as it was too early for gas&air (codine does work but not when the contractions are very intense wore off after 1 hour. After the exam they wanted to also give mw a presentation scan just to ensure he was head down as my midwife was only 95% sure turns out he was! Thank goodness. I had to be constantly strapped to a monitor to ensure baby did not show any signs of distress because oftge bowel movement and his heart ratecwas great all throughout the labour. The time then got to 6pm and I was only 3cm dilated!  I was gutted! My midwife decided to put me on 3ml of oxytocin via drip and burst my front waters,  at this point just had gas&air (which gave me major giggles after every single contraction, I highly recommend! ) lol but 6.30 came and ir was not a laughing matter anymore!  The pain was excruciating!  Lasting 40 seconds every two minutes, baby became distressed and so they strapped a monitor to his head at 8pm and I  discovered I was 9cm! Midwives git ready very quickly and with 3 long and  painful pushes baby arrived with the cord around his neck so he was rushed off for a couple of minutes to ensure he was ok but he was fine! All in all a bit of an emotional roller coaster with a few downs but lots of ups! I just had a tiny labia tear and had 2 stitches afterwards, baby has had 7 feeds in 7 hour so he is doing fabulous!  Beautiful colour and he is just perfect. Thank you for all your support over the last 9 months and I wish you all the very best!!! (3.10am here baby won't let me sleep lol wants cuddles all the time! But I swallowed a bit of mucus from his poo so we have got to be alert and do I do not mind!)
