baby shower related

If your bf's family wants to throw you a baby shower, shouldn't they make the reservations and pretty much plan the whole thing out? We didn't ask for one but it would be super nice to have one. They think we should reserve the place and we don't have the money for it. We are definitely not getting the food or decorating the place either.

I don't know.. opinions ladies! Opinions please!

I was a little angry already because I woke up mad lol and we are already struggling financially but we don't like telling our families that. But I wasn't mad at anyone, only bothered me because I feel anxious all the time and that's enough for me.

If they offered that means they are throwing the babyshower. It would be different if u asked they to help you plan the shower. I'm participating in the shower planning for my baby. My sister wanted to throw me a babyshower, but I didn't want her to spend the money plus i didn't want a suprise shower

It gets lots of angry commentary on this site when I say this (because lots of women do it), but etiquette-wise, it is a no-no to throw your own shower.  It's supposed to be done for you.

If they are throwing the baby shower, it's their party for U in Ur honor. I've thrown 3 showers, it was my idea to throw them so I did it all including sending invitations.  Some other friends helped w food & decorations etc. but NOT the mom 2 be. so who ever says they want to throw it should do it for U. That's sort of the point. If they insist you get a place, do favors, decorations etc.. Then Ur spending Ur $ that is needed for Ur baby/life. So I would tell them "no" u can't afford to throw it for yourself (get a place/decor/cake/etc). FYI baby showers are fun it's a celebration but U rarely get the big baby items (car seat, crib, stroller etc) u usually get clothes & blankets).
To make it affordable they can throw it for at some1s home or a park, get decor @ the dollar store, make The cake. But really if their offering they should do that for U.
