bacteria group B streptococcus

Hi I received a letter from my hospital saying that I'm carring a bacteria called Group B Streptococcus  (GBS) THEY said they would give me antibiotics when I'm in labour it scares me though has anyone else experience this before is it bad ? Will  my baby girl get this bacteria aswell? Thanks  (34 weeks pregnant).

I had it with my previous pregnancy and got the medication while in Labour and my daughter was completely healthy.

I found out on the 23th and I'm the same as u its scare Me cause I never had it e with my last two pregnancy but they said before I go into labor they're going to give me antibiotics 4 hrs before

Extremely common and it can come and go.  Nothing to stress about.  They swab every pregnant woman every time and antibiotics are precaution/best practice for baby safety.  I was worried with my first--tested positive and because my DH is allergic to penicillin but baby had no side effects.

1 in 5 women have this nothing to be afraid of that's why they give u the antibiotic threw IV while ur in labor

last question I ask that myself because I never knew if it went away I guess I will find out with baby #3

I didn't have it with my first, had it with my second.  baby came so fast there was no time to administer antibiotics.  He was later tested and was fine and is now a healthy 8 year old,  he didn't have to stay at  hospital extra time he came home with me.  Now your last

Ok so here's snother question. I never had it with my first. Is it something I can have with me second?

I had it with my previous bub and my understanding was that as long as the anti biotics is given roughly 4 hours before you give birth then your baby is well protected. By son is a very healthy happy little boy.

I found out I had it when I was 36 weeks (I am 38 now) don't worry! The antibiotics during labor will make your baby not get it. As long as they caught it before giving birth you should be fine (:
