Bad mom rant! Long story!

Unfortunately, a lot of my life and family drama revolves around bad mothers, and it is truly amazing to me how people can be this way. My brother has 4 beautiful little girls, 2 of which are by his 1st wife. She was always a great mom, but in the last year she's slowly become less involved, and the last 6 months has been MIA, missing birthdays, refusing to see them on mothers day, and generally refusing to be a part of their lives, even though it has completely devastated them. Now she has the nerve to take my brother to court for contempt of their divorce decree, which states the kids have 6 months of time with each parent. She's the one that disappeared! How in the world could you go 6 months without even calling to see if your kids are okay? I just don't understand how you can completely forget that you are a mother! It just absolutely infuriates me. To sit in a house full of drug addicts getting high while you completely miss the most important times of your daughters lives, that's just awful. It absolutely breaks my heart to have to hear my nieces ask why mommy isn't there. How do you even answer that? They're too smart to make up some answer to comfort them, but you still can't tell a child that they're mother doesn't want them, even though they already assume that themselves. Everything about this situation is just horrible, and it makes me so angry to see what she's done to my girls! They're so beautiful and smart, I just couldn't imagine not being there to watch them grow up. Sorry this is so long, I just didn't have anywhere else to speak my mind.

Sounds like maybe she is doing this to make it look as though your brother is with holding his children from her. My husband's ex was doing something similar and than tried to take us to court for full custody.

I feel you. My hubbys mom has been in and out of prison(currently in) for federal offenses, drug charges, and the like. She has a 10 year old daughter thats a mess, her mother(hubbys grandma) has taken care of the 10 yr old and 17 yr old son. She also has another son the fathers parents took away after the father was STABBED while dating the mom. The whole family is a mess. My hubby was raised by his dad and it went OK but as soon as he turned 18 he kicked him out and has never given him stability. Ot makes me sad but my hubby has my family and me now and now we have our little girl on the way. I know he will always be there for her. Just give them as much love and support as you can. Teach them right from wrong.
