Dilated is how much your cervix has opened, effacement is how thin the cervix is getting, and the -2 is the station. At 0 baby's head will be in your pelvic bone, negative numbers mean baby is still a little above and positive numbers mean baby is on his/her way out. Usually ftms will only dilate 1-2 cm and will fully efface before dilating any more. Second and third time moms tend to dilate and efface at the same time.
Ok thank you everyone , I'm a ftm and everything's so new to me
I do understand I went to the hospital yesterday and they told me that I dilated to 2 but I somewhat soft and thick but I still not understanding what that means but you are still too early to deliver your baby that why you are a -2 . I am 35 weeks in counting so I am almost done but your baby is just turning in position and you will have false labor for awhile but don't worry your baby is still developing and it nothing wrong with you or your baby just lay on your side and drink plenty of water and most of all rest okay
Women** effaced is the thinning of the cervix. You have to be 100% effaced and 10 cm dilated before the baby can come out.
Some woman are dilated a 1 their entire pregnancy.
How could I be dilated at 1cm??? And what's effacing ??
Your baby is negative two. It's called station. It's how high or low your baby is in your pelvis. At -2, your baby is very low. If your cervix is still thick, you are not yet effacing.
I believe she said effaced -2 I was to distracted by the pain
Not really sure what the -2 is but u can be dialted 1cm for a very long time how far along are you?
