beautify before birth

I want to start this post with one thing clear, I'm not your typical beauty queen, girly girl. I go shopping in my pjs and I dont always wear make up. But I do have a strong desire to look as beautiful as possible while giving birth. Not for the people in the birthing room, not for my hubby, but for my baby. Im talking pedicure, hair colored and braided, and eyelash extensions (to prevent running mascara). Does anyone else have a strong desire to look gorgeous for your baby?

I want to look nice because i know it'll make me feel better. I have very short hair & want a cut before having my baby. I want my makeup to look good, i want my toes done. I think its normal to want to look good. I make sure i take care of these things every other day, why should this day be any different?

You girls are awesome.  I love how you have all these plans... but when the time comes you won't care. Lol although my hubby's cousin did make sure she had her makeup on the the after pictures.  When your baby is here they can't make out your face, let alone care. Bring the make up,  but it will all sweat off. Those eye lash ext. Will probably end up on the side of your face.

I think getting your hair and nails/feet done and waxing etc is totally fine. Makes you feel good abd pampered etc. But I would skip a lot of makeup and fake lashes, mostly because when you're in labour, you sweat. Especially while pushing. I was drenched by the time my daughter came. My hair was all damp and stringy so I would definitely braid it back this time. I've been letting it grow. Lol. I also threw up during labour, even with the epidural, so I was a bit puffy. I feel like mascara and face makeup may just melt and make you look worse than if you didn't wear it at all. Just my personal opinion. Baby will love you no matter how you look.

This will be my second. I did the lashes and got my pedicure and hair colored with my first. I had it braided but I was laboring in the tub and my hair just frizzed up and I was all double chins in my photos. Lol I guess being a woman, I'm never satisfied. Luckily, having my baby at at birth center, he doesn't have to get the lovely eye goop so he can't see me. He'll get to see at least the basic parts of my face while breastfeed him, that's all I care about. Im so excited. They baby will look so much more gorgeous than I ever could attempt in myself. Yay for looking hot and pregnant in labor for ourselves and baby!!!

I agree with mw89 on this one! I definitely want to feel like I look nice during and after labor too-- but it's sadly more for myself than anyone else! I feel better when I feel like I look better too. My hubby and my family aren't going to care at all what I look like bc my baby is obviously the main attraction! But I will DEF feel better if I can look nicer too! Lol we deserve to pamper ourselves if we want to! We are making and delivering HUMANS, afterall! ;)

Queenrubyred: most newborns skim is not as sensitive as you would think they are tough little buggers.  (This is my third) and honestly I had done pretty much all of these things listed by you ladies through delivery both times prior.  And I did it for myself not really anyone else. I will feel even more like crap if I feel like I look like crap. Good luck ladies

Best way to manage it will be a ponytail or bun lol. At least that's what I'd think. I had my hair down while I was waitinf, but then when my labor kicked in I pulled it up into a ponytail bc I was so hot.

I dont care what i look like while labouring or after but since i know how little time i will have after baby is here i am doing my best to keep up appearances!  I did my toe nails and yesterday got my hair cut and coloured.  Hopefully tonight i can get my eyebrows looking normal! I dont plan on wearing makeup but i do wear a touch of shadow with mascara daily so it will depend on when it all goes down! With my first my hair was sooo knotted from tossing back and forth, i am trying to decide how best to manage it.  By manage it, i mean keep it out of my face!

I'm not a girly girl either also a ftm nd I don't think there's anything wrong with how you want to look for your baby after delivering but I don't want all of that when I give birth to my baby because their skin is sensitive nd I want to be able to kiss my baby after nd hold him/her close and I don't want to break out their skin all because of that nd they may look at you but their eyes haven't fully developed yet to really see how we see that happens a couple weeks after. But you have the right to do what you want just be careful not to touch your face nd then the baby

I do I won't go to the extreme as a full makeover but I'll be presentable. I can't wait to meet my baby girl. Truthfully IDC how I look she can't see me really anyway. But she'll be one of the prettiest babies I've ever seen. Good luck and congratulations
