bleeding at 6 weeks?!

I'm 6 weeks pregnant, it's my first pregnancy and I experienced some bleeding (a clot looking drop).I've been laying down ever since to take it easy. This has never happened before.

Everytime I stand up, there is light spotting- size of a quarter. I scheduled an emergency appt. tomorrow morning to see my doctor. Is this normal? Color is deep red. I also have minor cramping on the right side.

Thank you so much ladies! I'm trying to think positive. My husband and I would be devastated if it was a miscarriage. Keep us in your thoughts in prayers. The spotting has stopped.. just the cramping is still there. I'm going to wait for my emergency ultrasound appt. Tomorrow to test my blood levels..but if it gets worse tonight I'll go straight to ER

I had bleeding and cramping in the first 6 weeks and throughout my first trimester. I was terrified and everyone told me I would most likely misscarry, even my doctor. I'm 7 months today and my baby girl is doing well. Sometimes these things just happen. Everyone and every pregnancy is different. I hope things turn out well for you.

Also they may need to check your blood type if your a negative blood type and dad is a positive type. This can sometimes cause your body to respond by fighting off what it thinks is an "infection"  hope this helps x

Go to the ER. Even if your not sure. I did and mine turned out to be nothing. Least they can monitor the bleeding, check your hcg levels and advise you of what to do (they did this for me) mine ended up being implantation bleeding but my blood was brown and watery

I had something similar in the beginning of my pregnancy also. Mine turned out to be subchorionic hemorrhages, which are just little blood pockets. I am now 15 weeks. It could be many other things other then a miscarriage. Seeing blood is always an us easy feeling but try and think positive, drink lots of water, and rest. Good luck!

I agree^ however, it may not benefit you going to the ER because if it is a threatened misscarriage, they will only send you home to let it take its course. Your call hun. Im hoping for the best fir you. Take care

That sounds like what happened to me when I miscarried our first baby. I don't want to freak you out, some women get bleeding and everything is normal. I would not wait for the appt though. I'd go the ER immediately.
