Breastfeeding feeding is always the best. Formula is much tougher for babies to digest, it doesn't even compare to the real thing... no to mention all the GMO'S and additives. Try going to a la Leche league meeting maybe? Or contact a Nursing consultant. I remember going thru a similar situation when my son was born, establishing breastfeeding is one challenge and keeping it up is another. You can do it! The benefits of breastfeeding milk will help your child be healthy even when they are in their 50's as my Dr. says. :]
Yesturday a man at work who is a new dad told me about the 5 S's.
Swaddling, Swinging, Shushing, ? , ?....
We are in our 40's and are first time parents who both work.....but he gets to work from home so he may be more hands on then many dads....
Like I said in my previous post, I am checking out all the hospitals in my area for free or low cost classes to take before birth and while on leave.
Someone just told me about "PEPS" which is a national support group and local group organization here in US where new parents can meet, take classes, get support etc.
I have also started going to church again, hoping to meet other moms in my community for support....church is not for everyone but if you can find one you agree with and like, you will find spiritual, emotional, and physical support!
Thanks for the input. I'm already pumping and saving milk. I believe there is a class i cab attend today at 3pm my time. I will drink more water and adjust the dairy products. Any information helps because I'm exhausted and my husband tried but he doesn't know what to do so he backs away after minutes of trying to sooth him. I have two weeks to get it right. Thanks ladies/mommies
You can pump your milk when you go back to work. I breastfeed/pumped my milk for three years. Formula isn't as good as breast milk and it's more expensive as well.
I a mew a woman last year who did have to change her eating habits since dairy seemed to make her baby colicky. Babies who are Breast fed for 6 months to a year do have better immune systems....don't know if baby is going to day care when you return to work but, having a bit of breasts milk may help fend off illness.
I too will be going back to work after 6 weeks. I was told I could pump after each feeding when baby is brand new, and freeze breasts milk for up to 6 months...get some reserves built up. This will also allow my husband to bottle feed at night! I plan to try to continue to pump once I return to work....depending on where you work, and how often you need to pump, this will keep milk in supply for baby.
I have about 5 different hospitals in my area. I went to each website and checked out thier classes. One offers a lactation class for working moms. I did not give birth there but will sign up for it!
Remember to that excess weight gained during pregnancy is lost easier while breasts feeding.
Check out some lactation websites and goid luck
Drink more water. Sleep when baby sleeps. Try gas drops for baby, i gave them to my daughter as well as the infant liquid vitamin. If you decide to give formula keep breastfeeding as well until you just can't anymore...the longer the better#
