breast feeding worries

Hi everyone, now I'm 22 weeks along and my nipples only come out half way if I touch my breast. Will they come out properly once I start producing milk or will I even be able to breastfeed????

Thank you very much. I think breast feeding is a very good way to connect with my baby once she's born. The chance of maybe not being able to kind of freaks me out. So I'll buy the breast pump to be on the safe side and I'll do the oiling and gentle pulling in the mornings before I go to work. The nipple shield first I'm hearing about it. I live in Jamaica but I'll call the pharmacies to find out if they sell it and if not maybe they could somehow source it for me. Also a lot of very very good formulas are out there too so I'll try not to worry too much

I have extremely inverted nipples and was able to pump without a problem.  Latching was hard for my little one, but she was a micro preemie and had other issues that probably contributed as well.

Tommee Tippee makes a product called a nipple shield that goes over your nipple and has a little nub on it that my daughter could latch to and breastfeed.  It might be worth a shot.

Also, talk to a lactation consultant and don't get discouraged.  Breastfeeding is hard!

And if you can't do it,  it's all right,  plenty of people turn out just fine with formula.

I had the same problem. The nurse who was giving me classes told me to just try and not strectch them but pull so they come out the whole way. Enough of that and your nipples be ready to breast feed. Its just the tissues around the nipple. Google inverted nipple and breast feeding shouls help
