I know there are these poncho type things specifically for publicly breast feeding your baby. People might have their own opinions but if your baby's gotta eat your baby's gotta eat. It's whatever you're comfortable with. Even though i personally am not comfortable with breastfeeding in public i would never look down on someone else for doing so. It's natural.
I say YAY! Babies get hungry and there are tons of sports illustrated and Victoria's secret boobs all over the place so what's the problem. Boobs are multi functional!
Woot woot to the moms thats do!!! :-)
I nursed my son in public, of course - I wasn't going to hide at home for two years until he weaned! He didn't like to have his face covered while he ate (would you?) so I didn't cover. His mouth obviously covered my nipple and the rest of his head obscured basically everything else. You could see some cleavage over his head, maybe some side boob now and then if you were really staring, but nothing you don't see on teenage girls at the mall. My baby's got a right to eat wherever I have a right to be and anyone who doesn't like it doesn't have to look. No way would I hide away in a filthy public bathroom to feed my baby.
There was one time when he was still super young. Maybe four or six weeks old. We were shopping in this awesome little town a bit of a drive from home and when we decided it was time for dinner weren't sure where to go. We went into this Mediterranean place that we thought would be pretty casual and instead it was a pretty fancy upscale place. They seated us right smack in the middle of the open dining room and we'd barely started to eat before my little one woke up hungry. The last thing I wanted to do was leave the gorgeous meal in front of me but I wasn't by any means a pro at nursing yet. My husband and I looked at each other in panic but there wasn't anything else I could think to do. I snuggled and calmed my baby, unbuttoned the top of my shirt, and calmly (and as discreetly as possible) latched him on. The crying stopped instantly and I saw some sighs of relief around the dining room. I caught a look from a waitress that wasn't entirely impressed but nobody said a word. Everyone got to eat in peace. Right then I knew I was doing the right thing. I only got more confident from there on out. Can't wait to nurse baby #2.
Yes. I'm sure the public patrons would rather you be feeding your baby than let it cry of hunger. I've nursed in restaurants and other various public places. I always had a light blanket with me to cover up. Well, almost always. They do make nursing covers like others have mentioned. I have also nursed in fitting rooms. Not because I was embarrassed, but because it is nice to have that solitude while nursing.
I nursed in public with my two girls. I bought a thing called a "hooter hider." It is a thin wearable blanket that resembles an apron in a way. You put it over your head and the top part makes it so you can look down and see your baby as you nurse yet no one else can. There are pockets too which is convenient. I am more of a modest person so having a nice coverup made it more comfortable.
I personally would do it in public or wherever I am because my baby is hungry and why wait and make your baby starve just because your embarrassed? I would do it anywhere just never in the bathroom. If your out then cover with a light blanket..
I nursed in public. But if I was in a store and my child was hungry I would go to the fitting rooms. The people in the fitting rooms are very understanding about it plus I felt more comfy nursing in privacy but if i was out and about I did it anyways. Who cares what others think. All that matters is your baby is being nourished and fed :)
I nurse in public. If there isn't a spot for me to nurse in private I cover up. I honestly could care less what other people think about it. It's how my baby gets fed.
If my baby is hungry, she is eating wherever we are. And I will not go to a restroom like sabby said, unsanitary.
I definitely feed in public, not gonna stay home and baby gotta eat. Buy a nursing cover and keep it with you incase baby gets hungry. I sometimes get dirty looks from old lady's that think if a woman's nursing they should stay locked up in the house. I pay them no mind because it is perfectly natural to breastfeed and I am being cautious about exposing my breast to the public so they can kiss my butt.
Yes, that's a good idea. I'm FTM and I want to breastfeed my son but I don't know how to go about a particular scenario, for example, what happen if I'm in a crowded restaurant and my son is hungry and i start to breastfeed some people may look at me like I'm breaking the law or something. is there like a mommy blanket or a mommy bra for moms who breastfeed or something...
I if they are out with their baby and need to feed their baby then they should definitely do so. I am in the uk and have fed 2 children whilst out in public. No way wud I take my baby to the rest room to do so though. It is easy to do it discreetly so that no one sees your breasts.
It's whatever you're comfortable with! Any business can not legally tell you to stop breastfeeding in public, so it's all a personal choice (:
I do it in public very unsanitary to go to bathroom. It's not often when I do it in public
