caffeine

What could drinking caffeine during your pregnancy do to baby I usually drink a cup in the morning probably 6 oz. But occasionally I drink pepsi or Coca-Cola later like if someone takes me out to dinner I get weird cravings for it.

There is not proof it will have any effects on the baby at all. Multiple studies have been done and inconclusive. The main concern is dehydrating yourself and causing an uti. Your fine staying under 200. The papers from my hospital actually say 300mg. That is a ton of caffeined. Like 9 cans of coke! I wouldn't suggest that much though. Lol I drink a cup or two of pop everyday. My doctor said there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I get really bad migraines and nausea. It's the only thing that helps. I didn't drink any caffeine with my first and he's a wild man. :)

Well with my first daughter. I drank a redbull and had a chocolate bar everyday. Also I worked at Starbucks so I consumed large amounts of tea and coffee. Didn't know I was preggo until 7mths way to late to cut back. I also drank sodas all the time. She was born three weeks early perfectly healthy. I also never had pregnancy symptoms or any real cravings. Now with my second i limited the amount of caffeine i intake. I also have every symptom under the sun. I have gestational diabetes. I have not drank soda in years. So as long as you talk with doc and keep an eye on baby you will be fine. I have read all the statistics and still feel okay with what i eat and drink.

Also, I too crave soda so I know what that's like. I just try to drink caffeine free options like sprite and root beer.

Too much can cause still birth or miscarriage. My doctor said to limit it to about a 12oz can a day. Don't forget caffeine is also in things like tea and chocolate. You could be consuming more than you think. If you're only having a cup in the morning and occasionally in the afternoon some soda then I would think you'll be just fine.

Studies had shown moms in the first trimester and moms who drink over 5cups a day can cause a still born or miscarriage. A cup or two is okay...Especially moms who have had 6 kids (like my mom) we are ojay..no problems from coffee!

Caffine is a stimulant. It can increase your heart rate and blood pressure. It also passes through the placenta. It can cause an increase in baby's heart rate and blood pressure. It can also impact blood flow to and from the placenta. It is OK to have a limited amount but you shouldn't over do it.

Im curious about that too. This is my 3rd baby and ive been told always to limit it but the women on here talk about drinking coke like its drugs or something. I still havent given up my coffees and cokes pepsis and mountain dews. I have at least one caffinated drink a day sometimes more. At least a 20oz pop of some kind. Ive craved sugar like crazy with this one so I cant help it really. I get crabby and anxious if I dont get a drink im craving
