Ive had my dog for almost 9 years now. Hes always been protective of me but after I found out I was pregnant he got worse. He actually bit my dad one day when he came into my bedroom to talk to me and jumped on my bed. Now anytime anyone touches my belly while the dog is next to me he will growl at them and look at me like if hes asking if what they are doing is ok. He also loves laying across my belly. Hes only about 10 pounds so it doesnt hurt or anything but the baby will start kicking him. My point is yes dogs can sense things like that.

Dogs can sense a difference in pregnant women, because we smell different. They don't necessarily know we're carrying a child, but we do smell very different to them. Maybe this is also the case if you are going into labor? Not sure...

My dog has been super protective, and will not allow me to be in a room by myself. He starts freaking out when I shut a door behind me and don't let him go with me. He's very sweet, and will listen to anything I say, which is not the case for my bf, who he completely ignores lol

I wanna say yes my dog never pooped in my room ever and the night before my water broke he popped a squat and took a big dump right in the middle of my room.  In pretty sure that was his way of sensing something strange was going to Happen with me. Cause he never did that again after that either.  He was very strange with me during my pregnancies and still is with this one.

I honestly think YES! My dog would lay and just stare at me. He never did it before and did it for a few days and was more protective.   It was weird. I found out a couple days later I was pregnant lol.

My dog seems more distant now that I'm pregnant. I hope she gets over it. I don't want her to be depressed.

Dogs are really good at sensing things like that even illnesses with some dogs, i know a lass who is epileptic n even before she goes into a fit her dog knew and wouldn't let anyone near her, n this is going to sound a bit daft but the larger the dogs nose is the better they sense things

When my fiance and I got our dog,  which we were forced to get rid of because it was a pit,  he stayed by my side and watched over me and when walking him never pulled. But when my fiance was walking him he would pull so that he could stand next to me.

We adopted a cat just before we got pregnant and she is a diva!! But just recently she has been closer to me. Not sure if she is just now feeling comfortable with us or if it's the pregnancy.  Then again I am only 13 weeks. Animals are amazing
