I have ate tuna my whole pregnancy I'm 28 weeks and my girl is fine. In fact I asked my midwife and she said yes 1 or 2 tins a week Is fine. I love tuna so would of been heartbroken if I couldn't eat it.

Canned tuna is great for you, a few times a week. The fish that is high in mercury is actually swordfish I believe.

I don't remember the exact amount, but tuna should be limited to 1-3 vans a week I believe. WIC actually provides tuna through their nutrition assistance programs. Albacore tuna should only be about 1 can a week (but it still counts as tuna). Fish has benefits, but as with anything moderation is key and make sure to check out that link, it'll tell you the fish to avoid. And when ask else fails talk to your OB at your next visit.

P.s. but you do need to read on it because, yes, they are certain fish you have to avoid because of the mercury in them

Yes you are allowed to have canned tuna, I think it has to be the light chunck tuna or something like that. Just look it up so you eat the right one. Eating fish while pregnant is an important part of your diet because of the omega 3's.

Tuna is the main fish you want to avoid because of the high levels of mercury in it. So that's a definite no.
