car seat question

So we have yet to put in our car seat. At this moment we have two booster seats in the back (2008 Pontiac G6) so there's not a lot of room...

Question is my daughter whom is 6 and my son whom is two (of course two different size boosters, ) should I put new baby in the middle?  Or my my oldest in the middle?  This is just until we can get a van in a few months. Baby will be here in 12 almost 11 days & I need to get this figured out.

Suggestions?

I think it would be best to check with your local police department because they would know which way is the best for all of the kids.

We have a 95' firebird and I know what you mean with space. We're planning on putting Baby in the middle once we get an SUV..either sibling can help distract baby when fussy..etc.

Congrats! I'd pop in your local fire station. They can give you the best info and help with the setup.

I've thought about this too!

I'd put the six year old in the middle. Firstly, she'll be able to get in and out easily (you probably don't have to lift her) and I'm sure you don't really want to do any heavy lifting right after birth!

Secondly, I had my car seats checked by this car safety charity (both were fitted by the stores in which they were brought, and both stores claimed to be able to offer this service, both were fitted incorrectly!) The woman who checked them said that it doesn't make any difference at all where you put your car seats as long as they are in perfect working order and fitted properly.

She suggested going for the set up that's easiest for you and most comfortable for the child. (I put my two year old in her seat behind the driver and the woman said that didn't make sense because my partner drives our car the most and is taller so has the seat further back, which might make it uncomfortable for the child's legs.)

That being said, might be worth having a word with the police/fire department who will usually have some information and guidance on this and be willing to check your set up for free.

Your induction is coming so soon!! Good luck xx

Thank you for your reply  .  We called our local fire department;  the woman said they just make sure we installed it correctly.  And nothing else.  She was actually quite rude about it: -/

But I'm guessing it would be better to put her in the middle;  my two year old we still have to lift him in and out, my six year old of course can get out / in on her own and buckle her seat belt. So it would be best if she's In the middle.  Not to mention I'm only 5'1 so my seat gets pushed all the way up so it's easy for her to get out of the car as well.
