When would you get membrane stripped?

I was wondering when you would usually get your membrane stripped? Is there a certain week?

I had mine done at 38 weeks also. It all depends on your doctor I believe. I had mines done 9am on a Thursday morning, and Friday at 230 my baby was here. Labor began around 11pm that Thursday night. So it depends on your body as well. Good luck.

The doctor suggested it to me! It helps start labor I got it done in the afternoon and had my little monkey less then 24 hours later! Yes it does hurt but it was worth it knowing I got to meet my monkey soon!

they do not break your water during the sweep. they separate your bag of waters from the uterine lining. this can help kickstart labor or may do nothing at all. ive never personally had one but will if I am overdue. I heard it can be uncomfortable but hey, what isn't with pregnancy. from what ive seen depending on the doctor, they will do it as early as 38 weeks or as late as 41 weeks. its up to them.

Its "breaking your water". It doesn't hurt, you feel some pressure.
