Did you end up having your baby early? All I've been doing is drinking water & laying down & nothing seems to work.

I was having contractions with my 1st baby since 5 months every Time they hooked me up the machine they would ask me you don't feel them I never felt them. My stomach will get tighten into a hard ball every now and then but water would help it. I felt my contractions really felt them when I went to go in the shower and I didn't notice but my water broke and trying to lay down with my legs down would hurt so bad. Putting your legs up helps for me it did so much

Thanks guys. I keep getting like 3-4 every hour. But I refuse to go back to the hospital because they haven't been any help the past two days.

It's not a dumb question.  I had c- sections with my first pregnancy (twins) and with the second I was in the maternity ward due to kidney stones.  My Dr asked me how long I had been having contractions and I told him I wasnt. Long story short,  I had been for two days but didn't know it. But these other ladies are right.  A tightening in your entire midsection. Good luck!

For me it was constant tightening and loosening in my tummy that was accompanied by a backache and extreme pains shooting through my hips and thighs.

Contractions are when your stomach tightens. If you touch your stomach when you have one it will be rock hard.
