This is my first pregnancy , and I am a lil confused on if I have been having contractions or not . Could someone tell me what to expect when they come

How far along are you?? I started getting actual contractions that picked up on the monitor at 34 weeks! They feel like period like cramps but alot worse! everyone tells me "you'll know when the real deal is here"-- lol im 35 weeks now & have slight cramping but nothing horrible... yet! :P
