I work in a daycare that goes from 6weeks to Kindergarten. The infant room at the facility that I work at is amazing the teachers are not overwhelmed with babies and there are enough toys and things to accommodate each child. I will be two doors down from my son and I will be able to visit him as often as I would like to. There are also cameras so I can monitor my son from the office if I would like. I completely trust the ladies in the room. I plan on nursing but while he is in daycare I will have bottles with breastmilk for him that way when I am ready to stop nursing the transition won't be that difficult for him.
I have no choice but to start him at daycare at 6weeks but I don't mind it because I get off fairly early in the day.
You definitely have to do your research and go with what is best for you. Each center is different.

I work in a daycare in the infant room. Most of my kids got enrolled when they were 6weeks. I love all my kids as if they were mine. But I wouldn't but my newborn in daycare that early.
Every teacher is different and work different and I've seen things I don't like specially when they have favoritism.

Honestly if you can wait until your child can use at least some words, do it bc it's a lot that's done and said in daycares that are masked...that's from inappropriate conversations in classrooms. Using curse words, and listening to provocative music when bosses aren't around...

I have worked In a childcare facility that took babies as early as 6 weeks...I've worked with 6wk olds to 2 year olds in my 4 years there. The center went all the way to pre-k....anyway in working there, there was an open door policy so you could visit as often as you like and they had two way mirrors. My concern was ratio being 4:1..many who don't work in childcare think it's easy, oh it's just 4 babies...no it's difficult especially when they all cry at once and it's just you. But the center I worked for was very popular and so it was Packed to capacity, 8 kids + 2 teachers in a room with 8 cribs, x amount of toys, changing tables etc...it wasn't enough room. I wouldn't want my kid lost in a bunch of stuff..plus everything was like bare minimum so it's not like as the kids grew it was enough of certain toys or what have you. Socializing was a great pro and there were some very caring teachers BUT there were some who didn't like their job so to them it was JUST a job! Therefore your kid was taken care of but not with the love you would give. Toys weren't always properly sanitized so when sickness was in the center it went through and kept coming back. I've seen people fired for abusing kids, and people hired then fired for being too rough with kids, telling them to shut up and for forcing them to sleep basically all day...so with that said I'm thankful my parents have retired and will be able to keep my baby girl for me. My mom was a teacher for like 25 years and I know with her being in my mom's care as she gets older she Will learn a lot. Plus I will be home for a while and plan to love and teach baby girl as well as her father...

My baby too will be going from 730 to 5... stingrays may get picked up earlier.  We have my mother in law here and she is retired but she travels alot to see daughter and mother in other countries and we don't want to take her freedom.  Who knows how much longer she has left in her to do such things. She tires easily too...so day care it is as soon as I'm off maternity leave.

Every one's situation is different however if you wait at least until 12 weeks then do that.

A lot of parents do not have family who have retired to be able to mind their children.

Con: you will miss out forever on a major chunk of your child's biggest year for growth and development.

My cousin is putting her baby in daycare as soon as shes off maternity leave from 7am to530 pm. I didnt even know you could put your newborn in daycare that early at 8 weeks.  And for so long its not like its 5hrs.. thats a big chunk your newborn is in daycare.  I am going to let my newborn be taken care of not just myself or husband but  family members.

I agree with the pros above: stronger immune system and social advances but I still would recommend not to do it that early! All your baby needs at that stage is you. Your warmth, your smell, your voice etc. Not even talking about breastfeeding which u can't do if your baby is in daycare. A bond between the two of u is really something u want to have and that for that u need to have  quality time together from the very beginning :)

I was a child protective investigator and when it comes to day care it's actually recommended to wait for day care until child can talk (this is so that he/she can tell u if something is wrong.  However we live in a working world and that is not always an option.  Also if any type of incident took place in the home we would recommend day care. Cons: kid/teacher ratio, cost, trusting someone new
Pros: logs are kept so u do know what's going on with baby, immune systems built, respite time for parents, advanced socially and education...
Just do your research and maybe try one that has cameras in room.

I used to work at a really good daycare.  I worked with all ages but if I had a choice to be stay at home or have a family member watch my baby I would. A con would be that the ratio for a baby to an adult is 4:1.  Meaning one adult to four babies and due to staffing and saving money daycares usually just meet to their requirements. Also you put a lot of trust in someone or someones you don't entirely know. Cons can be :  A daycare can be good in some respects that yes your children get sick earlier with bugs but they help build a stronger immune system.  Also some work on a lot of educational time that may put your young one ahead. Socially its a very good thing. Also if a larger daycare you may find a babysitter there you can really trust.
