I had brown and bright red blood off and on during my first trimester. Doctor said I really only should be worried if there is clumps followed by cramping.

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and had spotting and light cramps at 6 weeks. It's completely normal. The uterus is growing which can cause this. If you're still worried though I would contact your doctor or go to the er.

Brown is old blood. Call the nurse and ask. It is pretty common during pregnancy.
