It would be a missed miscarriage you won't have any pain or bleeding no sign of a miscarriage the body tries to hold on to the pregnancy even though it is not a viable pregnancy it can take a while for the body to realize it and get rid of it doctor's also suggest taking a pill to bring on miscarriage or having a d&c I'm sorry for your friends loss it's not an easy thing to go through I've lost 2 angels myself and it still hurts

Her body probably hasn't recognized it as a failed pregnancy yet, like UniquelyMoi247 said, it can take some time for the body to catch up to the sad news.

Sounds like a blighted ovum. I've had one a few years ago. You can still experience pregnancy symptoms as your body thinks it's pregnant. The sac may also grow somewhat but unfortunately no baby. Its classed as a missed miscarriage and can take the body a while to figure out. I had to help my body along with medication.

Sorry, but neg test (no preg hormones) and an empty sac mean no pregnancy. Be a gentle friend and supportive.

A blighted ovum (also known as “anembryonic pregnancy”) happens when a fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterine wall, but the embryo does not develop. Cells develop to form the pregnancy sac, but not the embryo itself. A blighted ovum occurs within the first trimester, often before a woman knows she is pregnant. A high level of chromosome abnormalities usually causes a woman’s body to naturally miscarry.

Pulled that information off of http://*****************.org/pregnancy-complications/blighted-ovum/. You can read more about it there.

Its also good to know that since it is chemically a pregnancy that she will have some symptoms until she miscarries. So sorry for her loss, my prayers to her.

If the sac is empty then it's not a viable pregnancy
