fiances dog

So I just moved in with my fiance and he has a dog.....I never wanted a dog they are too much work. But now I'm stuck taking care of his stupid dog during the day while he's at work. I hate it. His dog is so bad. He's pooped on the floor 3 times and peed on the kitchen floor once. He gets into trash and everything. I let the dog outside a lot so I don't know why he is pooping in the house. The other day it was nice out so I left the dog outside most of the day and he still pooped in the house. One time he pooped in the baby's room. I've expressed my frustration with my fiance but of course he loves the dog and doesn't want to get rid of him...but I don't want to deal with poop all the time. Esp once the baby is here...we are gonna have to constantly shampoo the carpets so the baby isn't crawling in poop germs. Is it unfair if I ask him to get rid of the dog? I'm the one who has to deal with the damn dog because I'm the one that's home. I don't think its fair to me.

Thanks everyone. And to the person who said the dog may sense that I don't like him well I did like him at first I gave him a chance but he has just been a nightmare So then I started to dislike him. I don't hate dogs but I just don't like owning them....and it sux because this dog wasn't even originally my fiances dog it was his ex girlfriends sisters dog and he somehow got stuck with it. The dog is like 7 and wasn't trained very well during his lifetime. I will talk to my fiance about a crate. I don't think he will like it much because he isn't used to being in a crate.

I've had the same problem with my husband's dog, he got him a year before we started dating. We put him in a crate every time we leave, even if it's just for a few minutes because the second he's alone he'll go potty in the house. Its very frustrating I know. I like animals but I don't like living with them and it seems his dog falls all on me since he works 12 he days 6-7 days a week. I hate it! I really recommend the kennel and if there are rooms you don't want him in keep the doors closed. If that doesn't help I would keep him outside unless your fiance is home. I'd leave my husband's out but we live on a busy road and haven't had the opportunity to put up a fence yet. Don't complain too much to him about his dog, I learned from experience this will make him grumpy towards you, unfair yes but for whatever reason it's true. Good luck!

Sounds like he needs to be an outside dog unless your husband is home! I don't tolerate misbehaving animals in the house.

I say try the kennel and when he goes potty/poo in the house make him smell it and tell him no with a firm tone and then walk him to the door outside. He just needs training but its not really your responsibility so maybe u can tell ur partner to work on it more. U dont need 2 babies at once lol

He needs to properly train his dog. Going to the bathroom in the house isn't ok. A cage might not work you usually have to train them from a puppy to be ok  with a cage but you can try

The dog is probably acting out due to the change in the house. And he can probably sense that you don't like him which will only make it worse. Open your heart and let the dog in and I bet things will get better. Ya never know, heaven forbid, the dog may need to save your life or the baby's life one day

Yeah maybe we will try that. We have a spare bedroom we left him in one day there's no furniture in it when we went to the store and he got mad and tore a hole in the wall and scratched the door... so we never did that again. But yeah I think we might have to start leaving him in a crate when we leave. Most of the times when he pooped it was when no one was home..I was at the store or Dr apt and come home and there's poop...and I always let him outside before I leave so he can potty but it doesn't help. I will ask my fiance to get a crate.

Get a dog kennel and keep him in there unless he is outside. We had our pit bull do that and he has learned that going in the house is not ok. Seriously its a life saver
