Finishing college with one or more children.

How many of you mom's made it through college with one or more children? If anyone, how did you manage to finish and how long did it take you? I need to know that other mom's have done it so I can feel better about it. I'm in my freshman year of college with a toddler and expecting next year. I know I can do it, thing is... I don't have the motivation from my loved ones that I could do it and that brings me down. Success stories, anyone?

I'm in my last semester of nursing program with a 4 1/2 yo and another on the way right after graduation.  It's hard but do-able.

I started college straight from high school in 05-06 on a full track scholarship after running for 4 years i decided the major i was 3 classes away from graduating with wasn't what i wanted to do. Having no more scholarship money i moved back home in 2010 to va and got a job and saved up money to start all over with a knew major that I loved. I am 27 and I just graduated last December from the University of Alabama. I double majored in biology premed and neuroscience with minors in chemistry and psychology. I had my first son in august 2011 and started back to school 5 days later I breast fed him until he was 10 months old. Then had my following son the next year and breast fed him as well. I was 3 momths pregnant with my 3rd son at the time of graduation :) not to mention we moved 800mi away to Boston where we knew absolutely no one, for my last semester of school. It took me two solid years of 6 semesters straight through to finish but it IS doable. I told my self and god that if i had another shot at school of take it seriously and do things right. I made straight As every semester until I graduated with honors and a 3.85 gpa and I did it with no family friends or anyone to watch my boys while my husband worked away from home. Just pray, and keep good time management and you can push through :) my boys where my motivation, they still are. I wanted them to be able to be proud of their mommy. :) good luck and best wishes you can do it!!

I took minimester classes. They were 8 weeks and to me less work. I finished my associates degree in 1.5 years. I took classes in the evening. I worked early shifts so I could be off by three to get my kids and spend time with them and get to class by 7. Online classes help too. It was hard but worth it. I went back in 2012 to get my LVN. It worked well with both my kids and my school schedule. I plan to start classes towards my RN in January. It's a juggling act but your kids will be proud.

Try taking online courses. Especially if you don't have a  stong support system. That way you can get your course work done and still be with your children.

It took 2.5 years for my associates and 2 years to complete my bachelors. I had two children and a great support system. I was supposed to start my Masters in January but baby is due in March and I don't want to start and stop so I'll be going for my Masters in August.

My kids are 4&6 and I've been working towards my aas in computer programming for the last two years. It's definitely more challenging with kids, but it's important, so I'm doing my best. I'm worried about next semester...supposed to be my last but I'm due mid semester. I think I am able to still finish...maybe even work ahead if my instructors allow it. The one thing I am going to keep reminding myself is that I only need 2 more classes to graduate and it will all be worth the extra work.

Good luck to you in school and with this pregnancy!

I have a 11 year old and I'm 27 weeks pregnant. I am in my last year of college and still plan on going for my master's. Right now I'm in the process to get my RN. It's hard when you have kids I have to still run the household (bf helps as much as possible), do homework (with him and my own), cook study the list goes on. But my motivation is these kids and no one else! I want to do better so they can see better and be better! You can do it you babies are all the motivation you need contrasts on the pregnancy and if you need to talk I'm here :)

I finished my bachelor degree with two children and being a single parent at the time...you can do this. The journey will not be easy but it will be so worth it. Congratulations on your pregnacy.
