Pregnancy & IBS

My IBS is absolutely dreadful with my pregnancy.  I am 16 weeks, FTM, and have had diarrhea almost every day this month. I don't know what to do! Just taking Imodium constantly is not beneficial for me the way it might be for non-IBS people. Anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone taken slippery elm while pregnant? I'll try anything!

I just dealt with mine by managing the foods I ate and the times I ate them. I had severe ibs with my first pregnancy. Constantly have it but it was totally inflamed with my first. Just watch the foods you eat. If you eat fatty foods or greasy things plan on being home. lol Starches are good for being out and about. Not grains though because the fiber makes it worse.

My OB has actually told me I can take Imodium if I'm "in the bathroom all day." She also OK'd Kaopectate and Metamucil.  I just wanted to put some feelers out to see if any other pregnant IBS sufferers had different input from their doctors - I don't feel like mine has a true grasp of IBS. :o/

You don't want to  try "anything" because something could potentially be dangerous to take while pregnant. Are you sure you're even allowed to take Immodium?
I get IBS when I'm stressed and my doc recommended taking metamucil…it sounds weird but she said it does the opposite when you have diarrhoea cuz it bulks things up. You might want to look into that.
Also, even natural supplements can be harmful to pregnancy so just look into things carefully or talk to your doc.
