hearing different

Can you give ur new born a bath while the cord is still attached to his or her belly . or do u wait till it falls off

Thank u all . my sister just had 4th child and she has given them all baths b4 the cord has fallen off . I'm die in a week with my 2 child and I don't get the cord wet other then tabbing it with Rubbing alcohol. But my sister thinks she is right and I'm wrong

Yep...keep the cord as dry and clean as possible. Sponge baths are fine.

You towel bath, you don't want to get the cord wet.

I've always been told to try and not even touch it that much. If it gets wet it has a better chance of falling off before its ready and it'll be an open would prone to infection

That's what I thought . my sister is trying to tell me different . I did sponge bath with my 1st

A sponge bath yes. But you can't submerge the belly in water like a regular bath
