An eclipse will not cause birth defects. Those are ridiculous ancient beliefs that people came up with to try to explain why things like that happen. Birth defects are caused by genetic issues, drug and alcohol abuse and because sometimes a fetus just doesn't develop normally.

Only sun eclipse can be horrible for human and fetus. On that day woman who is pregnant should lay straight on bed but do not sleep (the chances could be if woman falls as sleep her baby can born blind). Or she can walk and walk around the house till eclipse is over. She should not do any tasks at all until eclipse is over. Just walk or lay straight. My grandmother told me all these.
But still try not to look at moon today.

A lot of women tend to give birth during full moons. But I wouldn't worry unless you're 38+ weeks. I'm 39 and 5 days! So I'm pretty excited and hoping I do go into labor today/tonight!

I just read that in some cultures they believe watching a Lunar Eclipse can cause birth defects.  Besides that I couldnt find anything else saying that its dangerous.
