hospital 1hr away

So my hospital is one hour away and I'm home alone all day so that means when the baby decides to come I'm going to have to call my husband which works five minutes away but since I am a FTM how do I know when its time for the baby to come because I would hate for my husband to miss work and drive 1hr for a false alarm...

I'm having baby number 4 and each time that I've gone into labor I've just known. It's something you wonder about with pains etc as your due date gets closer but when it actually happens, you tend to feel different and just "know" all 3 of labors my waters haven't broken until in hospital and about 7cms dilated so don't rely on your waters breaking to be the sign that it is labor. Good luck

I live about a hour away from the hospital too and I've had contractions since 22 weeks and now at 27 weeks they have gotten so strong but only 8 minutes apart. You will know when you are having contractions. They are horrible. Nothing will help. You will get the urge to poop all over yourself and if you push it feels so good. But don't push! You need to breathe. Slow breaths in and out. Mine feel like absolutely horrible gas pains. Like words cannot describe it. I do however since I am early plan on going to the hospital when they're about 6 minutes apart only bc they will have to transfer me and baby 2 hours away hopefully before he comes. So all together I have to keep him in for 3 hours on the road. You will know when it's time just be very aware since you do live further away.

I'm a ftm too. From what I have heard you will know because the pain will be intolerance. The contractions will be every 5 minutes. If you are in pain and you move or do something different and the pain goes away then you're not in labor. Unless you're bleeding or your water has broken then you should be fine.. Good luck
