how to get my body to make up its mind??

I am 38+2 and I keep having either Braxton Hicks or real contractions every night for the last few nights.  They start out at about 5 min then go to 2-3 min then after about an hour they cool down to 6-8 min apart, they are not very painful.  My body is really starting to hurt from them,  but they keep slowing down.  And I end up falling asleep and waking up with nothing going on at all!!!  This is getting really frustrating and I am starting to worry a little. I don't want to stress out the baby with my body doing this and then stopping.  Had any one else had this problem,  and if so what did you do to start labor?

I'm 40.6 weeks, and this has been happening to me everyday for two weeks.  During the day, I have about 2-3 braxton hicks every hour, and in the evening, they speed up to being about 3-4 minutes apart until I go to bed.  My midwife isn't too concerned, though.  She said it's just my body gearing up for labor and there's not much I can do about it.  :/  Hang in there!  You're almost to the finish line!

Yes, I've been going through the same thing. Dr said a good walk in the evening and sex if you're up for it. That will help get things going. The sperm can cause contraction and the walking helps to thin and dialate the cervix. Good luck!
