Curious

Am i thr only mom that is particular about handed down items for baby? Everyone is trying to give me clothes for the baby someone even gave me a car seat. I didn't want to be rude and say i didn't want it, but i would really rather buy everything new. Its nice that they are just trying to help, but i dont need their help.

I think that's first mommy syndrome. You want the whole experience and that means shopping! It's totally cool. However you can save money for babies future if you accept help. Like putting your money in a college fund instead of a car seat. Just something to think about

Yeah i was planning on giving all of it to someone who really needs it and cant afford it. It's really nice of everyone to want to help me, but i can afford to buy everything new where someone else probably cant. It would save me money to keep the stuff, but im not trying to be greedy when i have the money to get everything myself.

With my 1st son, I was young and broke. I was given gently used and new baby clothes, a crib, and other essential items. I was blessed with many baby clothes; I didn't have to buy his clothes  for the first two years! If you don't need those blessings, be a blessing and give the baby items to someone who needs them.

Well, good for you if you can afford to buy everything new. Just politely decline. Tell them you already got everything you need or something. Everything I've bought so far has been from thrift stores and consignment shops. People have given me a few things and I am very appreciative because I can't afford brand new stuff and I also know the baby is going to grow very quickly so I'm all about the hand me downs. I will buy him new stuff when he's older.

When I had my first baby I bought everything new and barely used any of it. He outgrew all his clothes and hated the brand new swing I bought him :( I'm having my second baby and I would definitely buy used baby clothes. They are usually in good condition since babies outgrow them so quickly. But it's your choice. And u can always give away what you don't want to the less.fortunate and if anyone asks just tell them somebody needed them more ;)

I buy used clothing & sometimes toys but I can't stand to see stains or wear/tear. So I am very particular about it all.  I love the shopping hunt so thrift stores & outlet buys are comforting to me.  It's not so much about the cost to me as it is about having something unique & different.
Bedding, crib, &mattress, car seat, soft toys gotta be new for my kids

I got stuff from a friend as well as yard sales. They grow so fast that its really a waste buying brand new. I bought a few things and kept everything from the first child. 2nd baby was a boy, and so is the next and I plan to reuse it all.I did buy a few new items and a new carseat for the 2nd child, but the third will be here before he turns 1 so No need for a new carseat

Thanks everyone. I just hate to keep the stuff or accept it when i know there is someone else out there that genuinely needs the help. I feel like im being greedy if i keep it. And i enjoy picking out all of his stuff myself. Im sure i will regret buying everything brand new, cause babies grow so fast but this is my first.

You can always give the car seat to whichever family member is going to be watching him the most. That way you won't have to keep taking yours in and out of the car. Having more than one car seat would probably come in handy.

I never thought of that. That's a really good idea though.
