I was induced and I had about an hour of contractions before they put an epidural in. After the epidural I didn't really feel anything but pressure so the induction wasn't that painful at all for me.

I went to be induced, after alot of commotion and terrifying moments I ended up with a c section. I wasn't dilating much and his heart rate kept dropping because the cord was around his neck so they couldn't give me anything to start induction for awhile. They inserted one cycotec pill at 11a (I got there at 7 but because he wasn't staying stable they had to wait) and then I had only dilated to maybe a 3, but they couldn't do anymore because his heart so I had my water broke at 5 and epidural by 6 it was excruciating pain, and my c section at 8ish. My cervix was tilted up so I don't know if that had something to do with it, but the checks hurt just about as bad as the contractions. He ended up voiding his bowel in me too, and now has a heart murmur which they said he'll grow out of. It was pure he'll.

I'm being induced this Friday. Honestly, from what I've read, it is almost always more painful because there is no slow buildup with the contractions and so you dont get used to them the same way and slowly build up the intensity. I plan on going natural despite having to be induced so if you are planning to get an epidural I wouldn't worry quite as much.
