labour skirt ???

So I'm looking to get like a skirt for when I get in labour as I don't want to flash with my bum and everything. So just so I can feel more comfortable knowing I have something to cover when I move around and maybe in the pool. But can't really find anything that I would like ? Please help!!!!! Thanks xx

Haven't got any tips for where you can get one. Just wanted to say ignore the people who are being a bit rude in my opinion & telling you what you will have to do. You don't have to be naked or half naked, it's entirely up to you. This is your birth. I understand about wanting to be as comfortable as possible, you may find you care less at the time, but you may not and better to be prepared. They don't make you wear a gown in England & they shouldn't wherever we are, we should be able to choose what we wear or don't wear no matter where we live. The women that say they'll be made to wear gowns etc I hope it's what they want or they stand up for themselves wearing what they choose. Birth is certainly not a sterile process, unless by c-section! Good luck finding something you'll be happy to wear!

If you have any friends that sew, you could design it yourself and pick a material that you love. Good luck :)

I just saw your post on another post and wish I had seen this first. I had suggested to her possibly buying a skirted bathing suit bottom and cut the bottom area out or maybe because it sounds like you want to be covered possibly turning it into like a snapped bottom like a onesie is. I'm sorry it's all I have but I hope it was a little bit helpful. Good luck. I hope you are happy and comfy for your big day.

Word from experience.  What you have on and how you look and what is hanging out and not hanging out, etc. is really not going to be your concern.  You're going to be pooping in front of people, in massive pain like you've never experienced, people looking at your hoo haa.  It's humbling.  And after the baby?  Welcome to the world of spit up.

You'll have days that no matter how much you hate it, you'll be a shell of your former well dressed self.  Such is life.  Your baby won't care and love s you anyway.

Unless you are having some kind of birth I don't know about, you're probably going to have to do what the hospital tells you,

I took jammies to my first birth.  Never put them on===  found the hospital gown to be soft and comfy and VERY practical.

Anyway, you don't mention socks.  You will want socks (that you can throw away) and those can coordinate with your outfit or not because you get a lot of blood on them.

good luck

You are naked if you give birth in a tub...so you will be showing everything and have no need for a skirt. I was told u leave your dignity by the front door when yoi go into labour and pick it up on the way home...so true! By the time little one is there EVERYBODY has seen everything. And it does not matter, believe me! I am a shy girl but come 40 weeks and contractions all you can think of is getting through the pain and getting baby out.

A company called binsi makes a couple styles ($35 & up) or if you can sew you can find binsi knock off pattern.  I personally think a gown is more comfortable for normal hospital labor. You hardly notice your wearing anything. They unsnap/tie easy for skin to skin or incase of an emergency.   If you are doing a home or water birth I can see how the skirt might be better. But in the hospital it could get in the way of the fetal monitor they strap across your belly to track baby's heart for signs of distress.

You probably should ask your doctor,  before you go through the expense of buying something,  whether you will have to wear a hospital gown.

When you're laboring you'll have sheets you can use to be modest - you don't have to labor naked on the bed where anyone coming in can see your ladybits.  Only when you're being checked for dilation,  or when you're pushing the baby out will you be exposed.

And in that case,  a pretty labor skirt won't help hide you.

The gowns that I was talking about from pretty pushers tie in the front so that you can do skin to skin and its easier to breastfeed if you plan on doing that just so you know.

I think they will make you get naked and into a gown no matter what you wear. Everything needs to be sterile i guess. I wanted to keep my shirt on but they made me take it off.

When you say you can't find anythin you like. ... why does it have to be liked? I hope you realize it is going to
be covered in gross stuff.  If i were looking for a skirt i would buy one that i wouldn't mind throwing out afterwards.  But as the other ladies above said, you may be required to wear a hospital gown

I don't know about a skirt but you could order a gown. I did for my first pregnancy and the hospital let me wear it. I got mine from www.prettypushers.com
