ladies with gestational diabetes

What do you eat for breakfast?  I've been managing it with diet but I swear I eat the same things for breakfast all the time.  The hospital I'm at recommends no fruit at breakfast  (which is the hardest part for me), I'm not sure that's the same everywhere.  I work 10 hr days usually breakfast is at 6 and I don't get  lunch till 12; I do snack but I need a filling breakfast, I just need more ideas.

Please don't reply if your not following the diet the way you should be.

Those all sound like really yummy ideas.  Although, in the list provided by my endo for foods to avoid, it included corn, yogurt, chips and so forth.  I really wish I had a personal chef who could cater to my specific needs and just have a meal prepared for me every time.  But, back to reality, lol. I have to pinch 4 times a day to check my blood and should be 90 or below fasting and 120 or below two hours after every meal. With all the worries already included with a pregnancy, having GD is even tougher. But all worth it in the end I know.

Jules2811 generally my dinner looks like some short of meat,  1 to 2 veggies,  and a starch.  The other night we did taco salad it was about 2 c. Of lettuce,  4 oz of meat,  1/4 c. Of onions, salad dressing and 2 servings of fritos chips (this was 30 g of carbs).  There was a night I did 4 oz pork chop with 1/2 c. Brown rice, wth 1.5 c zucchini and onions and 1 c. Of strawberries (the rice was 15 carbs and so was the strawberries so that was 30 carbs).  Tonight I'm doing tilapia with green beans and corn (the corn is my carb and will be between 15 and 30 g)

You could even add pinto beans in taco salad to add to the filling part of it.meat has no carbs so I ate ton of meat at dinner time

For dinner I always did just meat and veggies and if I did have something with carbs I measured out exactly what would be like a quarter cup if that was the allowed carbs for the specific item. Loved taco salads just your meat and lettuce tomatoes olives advocado sour cream cheese and salsa it was pretty filling. I ate yougurt for snack time a lot that was different foe the usual

Hi ladies, I am going through the same struggle.  I was diagnosed with GD at 26 weeks.  Mornings I'll have two scrambled eggs with a thin toast  with natural peanut butter and water. For me, the hardest is dinner.  For lunch I usually have a very low carb and low sugar wheat wrap with chicken, tuna or steak with just lettuce and Boar's Head natural honey mustard, which has minimal carbs and sugar.  Dinner for me is the hardest after a long day.  I usually don't know what to have that will fill me up until the next morning.  What are your dinner ideas? For snacks I have no sugar jello, carrots or a small apple.  I also sometimes feel that if I remain hungry, the baby will be hungry too.  I don't mind the short time sacrifice of this diet, I'm just worried the baby is not getting enough nutrition especially during the last trimester.  :-(

Tamyoung...I usually do some sort of bread (toast, half a bagel thin) with natural PB on it with an egg and/or breakfast meat.  The only way I like oatmeal is with brown sugar so I'm sure that's not a go for now.

They just suggested it because your more glucose sensitive in the morning,  so they suggest not doing fruit at breakfast.  And there is a carb count you should be following for meal and snack times. I got all my information from a registered dietician; I also have my bachelor's in nutrition. I Knew before hand that there was a carb count just couldn't remember the numbers.   The suggest for breakfast and snack time to stay between 15 and 30 grams of carbs.  Lunch and dinner no more than 45 grams of carbs.

You have to follow a diet when having gestational diabetes. I would eat oatmeal one package of instant equals your fifteen grams of carbs eggs no carbs and bacon. Or eggs bacon and one piece of toast. Breakfast was always the hardest. What do you eat that's always the same? This was for my first oregnancy so far don't have it with this one but I had it so bad doc thinks I will eventually develop it again

How should we be following a diet? Because I've  had multiple pregnancies with multiple drs and NOT ONE has ever said no fruit for breakfast. In fact they encourage it. So I'm curious to know what diet you're on our if your Dr is a quack? I really am genuinely curious because I want to know if I should be discussing this at my next appointment.
