Ysenia has a very good point! I once had a friend who grew crops under his home for street sale prior to Marajuana being legal here in WA. His pkants got a fungus, so he had to use some really nasty chemical sprays to irradiated it. Same thing when the crop got infested with bugs! The MSDS for the chemicals (manufacturer safety data sheets) for chemicals he used required the use of a respirator and disposable haznat suites and gloves, like worn to remove asbestos etc.

You have to remember that the FDA does not require home growers, state growers, or the illegal stuff coming across the border to only use pesticides and anti fungal stuff safe for human consumption....you are often getting dosed with poison when you smoke the stuff! And thus is without a dealer lacing it with other drugs!

Cultivation of pot takes a lot of time and work, and many growers are in business to make money....not to provide "Healthy organically grown pot"

Smoke at your own risk when not pregnant or breastfeeding, but for crying out loud.....you are only preg. for 9 months, get help to quit if you can't do it alone. There are other ways to relax#

I read that if it's not medical marijuana it could be harmful to the baby since Now a days it is or can be laced with who knows what. I was a user before I got pregnant and just didn't want to risk it during pregnancy. I ate saltine crackers for my nausea and drank ginger ale as well as ate peppermint like they were going out of stock! Lol. I read it was ok "back then" to smoke while pregnant but now w all the unreliable dealers it could be laced w anything suck as Cocain and other drugs. I wouldn't.

So you see Pigies....posting this topic can bring out a ton of questionable advice and responses.

There definately is a new study related to Marajuana use during pregnancy and breast feeding recently released.....If  I have time to find it, I post link.

I personally would not smoke pot, drink alcohol, use illegal drugs, smoke, or take unnecessary prescriptions during pregnancy...I am going to do my best to have natural birth, without pain meds or epidural....and I will vaccinate my baby vs. putting him at risk for diseases such as measles, which are medically known to   cause blindness and may lead to death.

Seek reputable sources for information, and trust your instinct. Check out the natural remedies for naseau too!

If they do a drug test and you pop positive you will not be able to take your baby home With you when it's born. My friend did that and lost her rights to the baby and the child was put in foster care. Talk to doctor about nausea meds.

I dont smoke it and never wud in pregnancy. No one knows enough about any potential harm it cud cause to unborn baby or indeed potential benefit. .. The unknown is most definitely a good enough reason to avoid it completely for me.

I personally would NEVER TAKE ZOFRAN,  EVER. I would never recommended either, i do however smoke a little when feeling ill and early pregnancy due to extreme nausea And morning sickness.  I think baby will be fine if you dont over use it daily.  i honestly did with my other kids. They are fine happy healthy and bouncy kids:)  all my OB doctors know and never had one call on me from a nurse or doctor.  And my oldest grade 4  is on the honor roll and great gymnast:) so my advice just dont over smoke everyday

It is actually completely safe. Better then the drugs dr wanna put in yyour body. To actually harm even your self you'd have to smoke 15lbs in minutes non stop to harm yourself. And that my ladies is a proven fact. Multiple women i know including myself smoked during a pregnancy. Not blunts ofcourse due to tabacco. But small bowls and all babys were well, no asthma, no development delays, no heart defects nothing!. But the choice is up to you. But always use in moderation.

@indiVidual you mean safer like perhaps Zofran? Well there are active law suits Right NOW for people's who's children were born with cleft palate cleft lip and congenital heart defect's because of a so called "safe" medication given to Preggs to help with nausea and vomiting. However once again NOT A SINGLE CASE of anything like that cause by smoking marijuana has EVER been reported.

thank you! They just don't want to say it's totally natural and completely safe because it's a risk for them just in case any crazy case was to happen! Peoples personal judgements and opinions cloud the truth all opinions aside there has NEVER been a case of some kind of complication with a baby born because of their mothers smoking marijuana!!!!!

To clarify there has been NO studies of marijuana use during pregnancy they don't know the side effects they are all just theorys. Just like energy drink the taurine in the energy drinks is why it says do not consume during pregnancy or breastfeeding. I don't trust listening to any type of doctor considering when you ask what side effects there are with vaccinating, pitocin, and epidural. They will all say "there is none" which is a load of bs.

The fact that there are other safer treatments and it's suggested that use can harmful I'd rather not. Better safe than sorry. If you're just looking for an excuse to smoke pot, it's not very responsible.

I was a marijuana user pre-pregnancy and still am usually daily. I was told by my physician that even the ondansetron that I take to prevent morning sickness is a b rated drug and is not completely "safe" for usage while pregnant how ever I take it every day for the past six months. I think if you use marijuana to relax your swollen feet or help with your appetite as long as it's not inexcess it's just fine!!! Screw the judgement, most people don't even know what they're talking about I never never smoked a day in their life ;)

I was in a Breast Feeding Class last night at a hospital lead by a certified lactation counselor. I live in Washington where both medical and recreational marajuana are legal.....There are many people in our state who are under the impression that since marajuana is "legal", that it musy be safe....

The instructor read to us the latest medical study on Marajuana use during pregnancy, and when breast feeding. It just came out this week.

The study showed that THc, the chemical "drug" within marajuana that acts on the brain, actually permeates the placenta easier than nicotine, and that no amount of marajuana has been proven "safe" during pregnancy. THC also attaches to fat cells, and breast milk has a high fat content, so the residual THC that remains in moms body after smoking pot is passed through breast milk to the baby.

We know alcohol is "legal" but pregnant women should not drink due to risk of fetal alcohol syndrome, fetal alcohol effect, and other behaviorial/emtional issues that children suffer from due to alcohol exposure in the womb.

We know Nicotine in cigarettes is "legal", but babies of moms who smoke have low birth weight and other issues due to lack of oxygen in womb.

Marajuana may now be "legal" in some states....but you are smart to ask if using it could hurt your baby.

Talk to your OBGYN, and visit legitimate websites for reasearch....

Your baby is important to you and you want to do what is best for your baby. This is an important question and you need professional medical advice or factual research to find your answer.

All the folks on this site can claim to be medical professionals, or other kind of expert....but really, they, like me, are anonymous. You can not take any a dice given here as gospel so, do your research through approperiate real life medical professionals.

Naseau During Pregnancy "Healthy" "Safe" home remedies....

Sea-Band accurate pressure bracelets found at pharmacies....Ask pharmacist.

Chew ginger gum....Ask pharmacist

Drink ginger ale....Ask pharmacist

Make ginger tea....Ask pharmacist or Dr. for recommendation.

If the above dose not help, speak to your Dr. Your Dr. can prescribe medication for naseau that is "safe" for you and baby to take.

With so many "safe", proven natural methods to treat naseau while pregnant, I would not put my baby at risk by smoking or eating pot to treat naseau.

Now, if I was not pregnant, had cancer, and was going through chemo, I would use pot! Chemo causes very severe naseau and I do believe that marajyana can be used safely to treat naseau in cancer patients. I also believe in other medical uses. I don't even care if folks smoke recreationally, but when it comes to taking care of my baby while in my body or breast feeding, I have done enough research to know that it would pose a risk to my baby, and I am not willing to do that to my kid

Try an edible in a controlled dose. Eliminates the harm from smoke. But speak with your doctor first. Every case varies.
