maternity grant

Just wanted some advice, im due to have my baby on 13th march and due to go on mat leave as of tmro, my husband unfortunatley lost his job two weeks ago and has applied for income based jsa. I only work 3 days a week, im a ftm and hes first child tooand was looking forward to buying all baby essentials before baby arrives . With any mums its always stressful. My question is if i applied for tje grant because my hubby is now claiming would we be able to get the grant. It would help me out soooo much right now! I didnt knw it existed, a friend told me about it.

It's my understanding that you are only entitled to the maternity grant if you are claiming a benefit such as income based jsa. You also need to claim it within 11 weeks of your due date and 3 months after the birth. Oh and it doesn't affect any benefits you receive or entitled to. Just download the form by googling "sure start maternity grant sf100 claim form" and take to your local job centre. Hope this helps :)
