maternity leave

Hey ladies! Im 29 weeks and due on April 8th with my first baby. Im just wondering when you guys would suggest going on leave, so far I plan to not work in April at all. I work in a nursing home and I work 64 hours in a 2 week pay period and I pick up shifts occasionally, so sometimes I work more than 64 hours and all my shifts are 8 hours long. Thanks!

Hi, I work in a nursing home as a Nursing Assistant. My first pregnancy I worked up until I was 36 weeks pregnant, I wanted to work up until I was due but the work load was getting to me and making me too exhausted plus my son was so low into my pelvis area that it hurt when I walked. I will suggest to talk to your Human Resource Rep and ask about short term disability for Maternity Leave and ask questions how long will they hold your position before they reassigned to someone else.

If you feel that it is becoming to much for you, tell your doctor and plan for your leave. Listen to your body.

I am now 19 weeks into my second pregnancy and will probably leave when I am 36-38 weeks.

Okay, and we just got a new scheduler so as far as I know he doesn't know im pregnant and so far I have not had any complications.  Also, there are quite a few of pregnant ladies that work in the same work place and they worked until they felt they wanted to stop. One lady actually went into labor at work and finished her shift then went in, but her baby was like 4-6 weeks early.
