membrane sweep

I just had this done earlier at my doctors appointment, I'm 39 weeks and 5 days how long before anything happens ???

It's a separation of the membranes from the cervix. It releases the hormone prostaglandin. It sometimes helps get things going for labour.

May i ask what a membrane sweep is for? Or what it means in general..?

Might not work at all. They only work about half the time.

Could be a few hours or could be more than a few days. All depends on your body and the baby
